Yes, i agree, a bit slow................I though most of series 4 was a bit disappointing to be honest, it was lacking in some good original monsters or baddies.............the xmas one looks like a return to form.

Well this is obviously going to happen as the Christmas Special next year is going to be David Tennants last episode. Why would there be any need to hint about it?

The beginning of the end for David Tennants Doctor.........................and to be honest i thought it was very poor , i hope `The End Of Time` part 2 is a lot better it would be such a shame for David Tennant to go out on a bit of a low....:(

For anyone interested in past Doctors there have been audio plays made by a BBC-licensed company for ten years and are well worth a listen.

Big Finish Productions - Home

Peter Davison, Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy and Paul McGann all record new episodes regularly and they're of a very high standard. Please note that they are audio dramas and not talking books.

Afraid that is my opinion too. They've 'improved' it by making it flat and lifeless.

Pity really, because that was a superb first episode, well above the standard we've had recently.

That's our little running theme this series, a bit like 'Bad Wolf', 'Torchwood' and 'the Doctor-Donna song is coming to an end' were a few years ago.

The Daleks are always wheeled out as a cushion when producers aren't 100% sure of a season going well but fortunately they needn't have worried in this instance. They did it for Patrick Troughton's first story and within two weeks everyone had forgotten that William Hartnell was ever there, much like everyone has instantly accepted The Boy now.

Watched the first but missed the second. Don't know what to make of the new boy. Too much gurning for my liking, and the opening plot was a little contrived and simplistic. Time will tell. John Pertwee will always be my favourite.

Will watch the repeat on BBC3, 9pm Friday. Probably take a series before we can make a proper assessment.

Re: dr who...

Victory of the Daleks is the weakest of the three we've had so far and I'm surprised considering Mark Gatiss wrote it. It felt very much like a setting up story for something further down the line, and those new Dalek casings look like they're ready to change into something else. They've been itching to get Spider Daleks on screen since the 90s and they've had plenty of coverage in the books so maybe this is it?

As far as Matt Smith goes, The Boy is better than I expected and I think he's making a pretty good job of it, but the writing at the moment is still very much in Tennant Mode which they need to get away from sharpish.

`The Time Of Angels`....................so, from one of NuWho`s worst episodes ever last week we now have one of the best, i think the Angels are excellent genuinely scary and creepy, the whole story was great and well written, Matt Smith seemed a lot more comfortable as the doctor and i think that Riversong is a great character, who is she really? his wife?mmmmm, hopefully she will be the Matt smith era version of Captain Jack, i believe she is back for the series finale...........roll on next week.

I have been attempting to watch this on Catch up .. what a load of rubbish. Matt Smith is obviously a promising new actor who will do well in the future, particularly in period dramas. His assistant is crap .. not eccentric enough, and that blooming music score drives my brain cells into overdrive.

The script is definitely confusing and think I will have to ask some 5 year old to explain to me.

Filming, directing has absolutely no qualities whatsoever !!

Ok . don't like it ... :(

Although I wasn't blown away by last night's episode, I must disagree over your views on Matt Smith and Steven Moffat. Smith is encapsulating elements of Peter Davison and Patrick Troughton plus putting his own little dark flashes in there which has totally drawn me in.

Now that we're past the 'still writing for David Tennant' stage, we're seeing improvements in the characterisation and the overarching story is building nicely.

Moffat is proving himself to be a worthy successor to RTD, in my opinion.
