Just been reading some of the comments on the online newpaper sites.

The whole world hates us, no change there then, for not voting the Susan Boyle the winner.

One woman, claiming to be a teacher at 'America's top music school', was particularly vitriolic on the Daily Mirror's website. Though her appalling grasp of the English language made me wonder if she'd have made better use of her time in the classroom, rather than the dance studio.

The whole world wants her?

After the dire rendition of Memory, they're welcome to her.

I wish her well, though I do worry for her. It was nice to see her dignity when she lost, then the nerves got to her again, and we saw a flash of thigh, and a flash of someone who doesn't seem able to cope very well with all the hype.

I haven't watched any of it on tv, so decided to look for a youtube clip to see what all the fuss is about.
I watched 3 performances of Diversity and I am impressed.:mosher:

I like rubbish TV, but had never bothered with BGT until this series.

It's highly manipulative, and heavily edited, but there are some very talented people out there, and it's good to see them.

You've given the thumbs up to Diversity, what's your judgement on 'world class' Susan Boyle?

YouTube - HD/HQ Susan Boyle - Memory from Cats - Britains Got Talent 2009 Semi Final Show 1 Season 3

Though in fairness she does sing the Les Mis song better.

I couldn't watch that clip because 'embedding disabled'
I did see the youtube clip of her 1st appearance and thought 'nice voice', but good singers are 10 a penny aren't they?
A modern excellent dance troup are a rare novelty.

I've seen better on the stage in the Town Hall.

Susan Boyle has a good voice, there's no doubt about that, but she's nothing out of the ordinary apart from the way she looks. I am convinced the Americans made a great fuss of her because they thought she was "not quite right"; I think they look on her as a sort of Forrest Gump. I was very glad she didn't win because we have X-Factor for singers and this is supposed to be about Variety. In any case, Susan won't lose out, she will be offered plenty of work. I just hope she gets over her apparent fixation with Piers Morgan and doesn't start stalking him - or worse.

It comes as no surprise to me that the saxophonist has already recorded albums. It's as unsurprising as the fact that Shaheen Whatshisface has appeared on TV and in the theatre several times.

The majority of the finalists were good but not spectacular. I felt very sorry for the little lad who did the body-popping, as Cowell made him cry, but he wasn't a dancer and, to be truthful, he only did what a lot of kids do in the playground, only he did it a bit better. There was no need to be so scathing of him, though, but Cowell wasn't going to make any money out of him, was he? It so contrasted with the way Hollie was treated.

Diversity were exceptionally good, I couldn't fault anything they did, but I doubt they've got much of a future in show-biz. Still, that's not what this contest is about - is it? I still think Stavros Flatley should have won, I laughed until I cried when they did the "Irish" dancing, and it shouldn't matter that they won't be a regular Act. It's just a shame that, in the end, everything comes down to who can make the most money for the promoters.

I wanted the sax chap to win,,,,maybe its nostalgia but it reminded me of Eddie Calvert and Acca Bilk

I think the thought of £8 million in the bank could just help her to regain her health kate:rolleyes:

I heard on radio today that she has had "fits and tantrums" all her life, according to her family. I think her over-excitable personality showed with her bum-wiggling etc. during the contest. When you consider everything that's happened in her life in just a matter of weeks, going from total obscurity to fame overnight, it's no wonder she flipped.

I hope Susan feels better soon.

It must be very difficult to go from living in a tiny village with your cat to the level of media interest Susan has had in the space of just a few months.

Build 'em up and knock 'em down has long been the game in this country. :(

I would like to go but if I go I would have to take hubby and two kids with me. At £32.50 a ticket I can't afford it.

Just a a follow up, Susan Boyle missed both performances in Manchester yesterday, if I'd pain £32 for a ticket I'd have been a bit miffed

Was looking through Ceefax yesterday and there was an item about Fred Bowers the 73 year old Break Dancer, it appears that Work and Pensions have stopped his benefits and are investigating him, what did the daft sod think would happen, your getting disability living allowance and you go on telly jumping about like a teenager (even if it was very badly) However, he says nothings going to stop him dancing, you couldn't make it up:rolleyes:

Perhaps he thinks his 'break dancing' will allow him to break through the bars of the jail.

Don't think he did a lot of thinking at all Rindi, its suprising how all logic goes out of the window when you become stage struck :theband:
