Plain speaking nowadays is constantly under threat & when someone speaks their mind (and if we're honest, it's also the view of quite a lot of other people, but those others daren't or are to scared to air their views for fear of being branded some kind of "ist") the false outrage is hypocritical to say the least.

Have to agree with you Dave, don't like Clarkson but I smile at his effect on people.

I dislike Jeremy Clarkson and the other two idiots, John Cleese makes me want to slap him, Lee Evans and anything slapstick, Gordon Ramsay annoys me, the list goes on!!!

Yes what was it about Charlie Drake, I know what you mean! Also Lee Evans and slapstick. Lady Gaga too, but don't know Keith Lemon so can't comment, but Marg P obviously feels the same way.

Jay, Gynn beat me to it in correcting you about Alan Sugar - can't really see him doing Countown - it's Nick Hewer, his sidekick. Never watched the programme, couldn't stand Carol Vorderman.

Unlikely sex symbol Nick Hewer has revitalised Countdown - 3am & Mirror Online

I choose not to find out their names. No doubt some of you regard them as 'celebrities'. I prefer to pretend they don't exist.

Couldn't agree more Margaret.

Others I can't stand: Ant and Dec, Graham Norton, Alan Carr, Michael McIntyre, Gok Wan, "dynamic property experts Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer", Jamie Oliver, Carol Vorderman see above.

Some of those slated on here I do like: Jeremy Paxman, Adrian Chiles when he talks about football, James May on anything, Gordon Ramsay.

Think that's enough to be going on with though there are one or two presenters on Radio 3 who really get up my nose but probably a bit highbrow to mention on here... :hidewall:

With you on both those Steve, I'd forgotten about Russell Brand - thank goodness he's not on TV much any more.

No.

I wouldn't have switched them on in the first place.

I think you mean in the second place?

Watched once, (usually not for long), never watched again.

No, I've never watched them.

I really like Nick Hewer, I once had a rather embarrassing phone call with Ant and Dec when my partner was in a pub in London which happened to be their local and they were lovely so I can't call them, I quite fancy Jeremy Paxman, and I do like Graham Norton, Alan Carr, Michael McIntyre, Gok Wan, Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer and Jamie Oliver whose hype I completely fell for from the start! And some of his recipes are yummy - try his sweet and sour chicken!
I know it's not telly, but Elaine Paige on Radio 2 on Sunday afternoon with her music from the musicals and her self obsessed lovey dovey chat turns both me and my partner a bit violent! We're usually in the car and forget she's on but she has to go off immediately!

Fancy Jeremy Paxman? I'm in lust with him - and Nick Hewer - but then I am of a certain age...

I wish I could borrow her sometime, save me sooo much disappointment.

Meanwhile, I see the adverts usually starting a month before, I work on the principle, if the advert is annoying once every 15 minutes the prog' is going to be alot worse.

Usually works, who needs to be begged to watch something interesting such as, well, Blue Planet?

There's really no one, that aggravates me that much.

I just don't watch programmes, if they were likely to irritate me.

I think part of the problem are the TV companies themselves.

If someone's deemed successful in one particular field, the next step will be mass saturation.

It's all very unimaginative on their part, and leads to audiences becoming jaded, about certain, so called, personalities.

This has been the case, for many of those people mentioned in this thread.

Mary Portas.

She's the latest.

Knows her ladies separates.

But please.

Old ginger bob's elevation to economic saviour of Britain, is pish poor television, thanks to the dullard commissioning editors.
