Okay Michael if you're referring to lol you'd be hard pushed to find a forum where it wasn't used. Wikipedia calls it "a common element of Internet slang" along with lmao, rotfl and pms.

I don't text either, no wish to, don't know how to.

Re: comedy poll

Let's bring movies into this. Planes, Trains and Automobiles starring Steve Martin and John Candy is a film comedy I never tire of. The same applies to Laurel and Hardy's short films (their full-length films don't quite do it for me).

Planes Trains and Automobiles is a top comedy film. I like all the Laurel and Hardy films. Timeless humour. Good shout

Love the bathroom scene in the motel - where Steve Martin ends up with the tiny towel!

Got the LOL! comment -quite right too!

Still think you have to give people time -I'm never brilliant in new company.

If I do send someone a text I always write out words in full. No Lols for me! It's handy in a work context. For instance, one of my jobs is to check our drivers' driving licences every six months. A text sent at night prompts them to find it there and then and bring it in the following day.

Yes, I liked that one too. I hope no one throws up. It's not very ladylike!

Re: comedy poll

John Candy was wonderful and sadly missed, all his films were very funny especially Uncle Buck, and Richard Prior and the Belushi guy from the Blues Brothers. As for the throwing up even us ladies have our limits of endurance!
