Profiles

Hi only recently joined and am wondering about how you increase Karma and what benefits it has, also how do you get Ackers .Also other things in the profile. Can we go over those with the mouse & it tells you? I can t find any explanation for them. Thanks
Really enjoying the site

slinky 06-09-2005 09:15

Re: Profiles

You get ackers when you post threads, the amount of ackers recieved, is dependant on which thread you post in.
Karma you recieve off other members, good karma if they like what you post, bad karma deducted if they don't like what you post, or have a disagreement with you.
Hope this has helped a little.

Re: Profiles

Cheers And what about power?

slinky 06-09-2005 09:28

Re: Profiles

Your power goes up dependant on how many posts you have, and how much karma, and i think (not sure) how long you have been a member.
Power if I am correct, means how much karma you can give. If you have a power of 4 you can give anything up to 4 karma points, but not all the time as sometimes, it will only give the person 2 or 3, so it is the maximum points of karma you can give.
If I am correct, you can only give karma after you have posted 100 times. It's been that long sinse I had to think about it all, I have gone a little hazey. But I think i'm correct, and sure if I am not, someone will correct me.

If you look on Rindy's profile it tells you he is male, down at the bottom.

And Why Not 06-09-2005 09:57

Re: Profiles

yeah I know now, but with his hotmail add as as rindyroo or whatever, and the photo of the girl I just assumed (obviously incorrectly) that he was an asian female. Garinda not your normal lancashire male name is it?

Re: Profiles

I didn't see you say that I was 'a girl after your own heart'!

Men don't make brews? You've been living in the Black Country, or as we call it the Badlands, too long sweetie.

I remember you asking me which school l went to and I told you QEGS, which from my age you could have worked out was single sex when I was there. Plus like Slinky pointed out I do have a little male winky sign by my name, which doesn't mean I have a little winky, as some of you know!

I didn't mean to mislead you, but I am an Asian babe some Friday nights in the chatroom apparently, when others usually men, want me to cam and lift up my sari.;)

Normal? Never, how very boring!:)

Men don't make brews? How do the single ones survive then? Do they die of thirst waiting for a woman to turn up? Busman is very particular bout his brews and wouldn't let just anybody loose making one for him!

rofl @ Rindy being mistaken for an Asian babe again.

I know that Kippax has 2 p's . wasnt sure if you could spell it, or you just keyed incorrectly.
There are some great names on here dont; you think? and they conjure up all sorts of images.
Take Harwood Red. 1st thing that came to my mind was a hair colour, and then a bus service, (theres one in the midlands or used to be called Midland Red) no offence Red, if I can be so bold as to call you Red, I noticed our kid called you Red

I think 'Harwood Red' might have something to do with Stanley.

What ideas do you get from mine?

No it stands for Queen Elizabeth [the first] Garinda [the first]...........oops, I mean Grammar School.

What does your choice of name conjour up, tethered with the fact your Cashy's sister?

It's a Paul Daniels catchphrase is it not?

Not a lot of people know that!

Willow , well I think I saw in an earlier posting, you'd lost your cat Bracken around Willows Lane so it could be that, or the fact that you are tall & thin & like to flit around thats it really

And Why Not 07-09-2005 06:49

Re: Profiles

And in response to Garindas question about my name. I didnt want a name that was obviously male or female , and I was stuck tween Yeah Right, and And Why Not, and I thought the latter was less confrontational. Didnt want to be taken as awkward being a new member. Re the Paul Daniels you're obviously a fan & remember more about him than me. And with And Why Not depending on how you say (read) it , it can have more than one meaning. Know what I mean

WillowTheWhisp 07-09-2005 06:54

Re: Profiles

Tall and thin I'm certainly not. heehee. You are right about Willows Lane though. The "Whisp" bit comes fom a nickname I got from my kids one day after we'd been for a ride on the open top bus at Scarborough and then photographed going into the Sea Life Centre. My hair looked ridiculous and they called me "Wispy the Wonder Woman" I had to insert the "h" just to be awkward.

When I saw your name "And Why Not" I didn't think of Paul Daniels but of Barry Norman.................and why not?

The origins of my nickname, which I had before joining the forum, are given in one of my earlier blog entries, and is too boring to repeat here.

Garinda was also chosen because it was thought to be non generic, obviously not, and why not?;)

Re: Profiles

well what about mine then "mez"? i do have the explanation for it but were it it come from ?

And Why Not 07-09-2005 09:38

Re: Profiles

Mother Hen, well that automatically conjures up , a more mature, motherly , warm sort of lady who likes to look after her younger charges.. but for all I know you might have a farm with lots of chickens on.

Of course you can call me red. The name is due to living in Great Harwood (harwood) and being a stanley supporter (red).

As for the hair colour, def not red head and the bus....well... have been likened to the back end of one before now ;)

mez 07-09-2005 14:36

Re: Profiles

used to have a smallholding with hens, duck, goats, & geese, yes the mother hen is right on , but the "mez" comes from a friends child who shortened my name which to this day i didn't think you could.
