I'm thinking when the comp closes we need to find a winner pretty soon because he/she will be choosing the theme for the following comp, so its either leave the voting on all the time and set a deadline for votes to be in (I did try the canceling of votes and re-voting when you put the test on and it worked OK, handy if someone changes their mind), or run the comp for 3 week and have a week to let people vote

It appears that we can leave the voting option on for the duration of the comp as this would give everyone as you say the option of changing their minds if a better image pops along and tickles their fancy. Hehe

What I will do is turn the voting option off when the dead line has been reached this would prevent anyone from moving their vote at a later date thus making the winner look like a none winner (fooling around) etc. hehe

I think it would be good idea if we could also hide the identity of the photos owner while the voting is taking place. By doing this no one would know whose photo they are voting for and hopefully prevent favouritism. I think there’s an option in the gallery admin cp were as you can select show or don’t show but the trouble is, this effects all the images in the gallery and we don’t wont to do that.
Perhaps Roy knows of a hack that could sort this for us. :)

Just had a look through the Admin cp and unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be an option to hide the up loaders name, pity..... but I’m sure we’ll cope. :D

Re: Photo Competition

Before you say what the first subject is it would be good to have the Competition RULES posted

Far doo's but who is going to draw them up and is there to be catagories?

Re: Photo Competition

proposed Rules are:

1 Someone posts a subject(last times winner nominates)
2 we have 2 weeks to take pictures and upload
3 everyone registered can vote for 2 weeks
4 most vote wins, a tie is decided by a Judge

job done

All in favour?

Re: Photo Competition

5) all pictures must be your own work
6) no pics to be scanned from mags etc
7) your copyright to a pic stays with you.

Re: Photo Competition

Ok then, I think these will be the rules;

Quote:

Rules;

1 K.S.H posts a subject and there after last times winner nominates new subject.
Try and keep the subject simple and easy as it’s just for fun and not everyone is a photo genius,
the more adventurous subjects can be done at a later date when we’ve got the hang of things.

2 Depending on the subject we will have one month to take pictures and upload them.
After the closing date the voting will be disabled.

3 Any Accyweb member can vote if they so wish.

4 The image with most votes wins; a tie will be decided by a Judge?
Not sure about the judging bit, perhaps there’s a better way.

5 All pictures must be your own work and not copied.

6 The image size needs to be around 800pixels wide and within about 100k or so.
Don’t worry about the size of your image if its too big as the software in the Gallery will reduce it down to the correct size but if its really massive like 3 or 4meg etc then it may take a while for the image to be uploaded.
Little pictures won’t really do because they don’t show much detail but if you have no choice then sod it and use them anyway. Alternatively have a look at your camera settings and see if you can select bigger files.

KSH when your ready you can start the competition off.
Create a new thread in the “Photoshop, Digital Photography, Digital Imaging” forums if everyone is happy? :)

Re: Photo Competition

I've managed to upload my entry, but can only access the competition through the link in this thread.

When I click on the Gallery, where is the competition hiding, because I now want to vote?

Sorry if I'm being thick.
