Question for the Mods

Hi .. just a quickie.. if you ban a member .. lets say for consistently using bad language, slagging off Mods, bullying other members, encouraging other members to join in the bullying, slag off members user names, be openly racist,... in what circumstances would that member be allowed back?

All depends on why they got the ban in the first place as most situations are different. We don’t permanently ban members ‘close accounts’ Willie Nillie we decide as a team on what action should be taken. Short term bans are basically shots across one’s bows and can range from a couple of days, weeks, months etc depending on..

All we ask of any member ‘before or after any ban’ is please stick to the rules and behave in a reasonable manner. End of the day the choice is theirs not ours.

Racism is basically bullying with more stigma attached to it, it shouldnt get any more or less than any form, so permenant ban for racism but month long ban for calling something along the lines of ageism/sexism etc wouldnt be fair. Any bullying is hurtful and shouldnt be tolerated but its not up to the mods to decide which type of discrimination is worth than another, as its got to be judged individually and appropriately, not just based on catagory it falls under.

Anyone persistently breaking our accyweb rules runs the risk of a ban and if no one reports offensive material then we can only assume everybody is happy because we do not have the time to read every post that is contributed to accyweb.

A side note:
Several posts have been split from this thread and a new one created, see below.
So could we all please stay on topic?
