That strikes me as a bit of an anomaly that needs to be amended.

If pms are not to be quoted on the forum then I don't think karma comments should be either.

Having said that I suppose you use your common sense.....whether I was quoting another person or not I would not copy that horrible word onto the forum. :(

What about signatures and avatars?

There is at least one signature that contains a swear word.

There is at least one avatar that is insulting to the person viewing it.

Plus signatures that contain abbreviations where one character represents a swear word.

Nothing wrong with my sense of humour but it doesn’t include laughing at people’s misfortune or witnessing someone having the Mickey taken or being insulted.

Far too many people think that they can insult someone or call them names or extract the urine and add a laughing Smiley to make it OK. It’s a bit like making a promise with your fingers crossed behind your back, a childish ploy that is supposed to nullify the promise. Then when someone complains or retaliates, back comes the response questioning their sense of humour.

It is time that there was a kiddies section where those people can go and insult each other to their heart’s content.

Chill out man. The avatar is funny, if you don't find it funny then that's fine. The fact that you don't find it funny is ok, the fact you can be offended by it amazes me, I thought you were made of tougher stuff than that.

You start them!

Everyone else would give you the benefit of the doubt and say, "the butt has a wonderful sense of humour", if you showed it but you never do, just as you never allow anyone else an opinion, even an innocent thread for example about fishing has to be turned into world war three by you.

I ask you now please, please, show us an example of your humour, if it's funny I and many others promise we will laugh with you rather than at you, No sorry it's like good old King Canute, he couldn't turn the tide, I can't stop you foaming at the mouth and taking everything as a personal insult instead of a difference of opinion.

Carry on as you are the Butt of your own childish actions, (I nearly said humour but that you have yet to prove you have).

Now why should I ‘chill out’ whatever that means? Just because you say so? Getting a bit above yourself aren’t you?

Ah! But then I forgot – again! I’m not supposed to have my own opinions and perchance I do and they differ from certain other people’s opinions, I either don’t have a sense of humour or I should change my view.

I don’t like to be called stupid and I doubt if anyone else does either. But I’m a lot mentally tougher than you could possibly imagine. If I wasn’t I would have left this forum long ago to leave you wallowing in your nasty, spiteful pit of mediocrity.

I do believe that the forum rules state:
Abusing Other Members
Abusing other members of this website is not allowed. Debates are welcome but must not become personal or target another member.

Insulting & Nasty Posts
Posts that are just insulting or nasty are not allowed on this website.

I would dare to suggest that calling all who read the text on an avatar stupid because they cannot see a picture comes under those rules. As does Less’ changed signature. Not forgetting to mention the Gaelic phrases.

Clear English Posts
Any messages posted on this forum must be done so in clear English. Using any other language is not allowed and Text Speak or "txt spk" is not acceptable, or Abbreviations.

That seems clear enough to me.

I do enjoy these little clashes until I have something better to do or I get bored with it all.

There seems to be little point in making reports.

Your daughter called you a fool to your face because of what she thought of your silly response to her question. She didn’t say that you must be stupid because you answered in the way that you did.

I have had a few requests to change my signature from other members, not because they think it insulting or nasty, they just seem to find the additional picture irritating and shall we say over the top, however nobody has found the link to James Browns' 'If I ruled The World' to be anything other than entertaining.

So I might just keep the alterations a wee bit longer.

I too am in favour of the swearing ban,the majority of us are, but some people are just too pedantic about it.

Debates are fine, opinions are fine...as long as they are just that, It's just that some people go on and on and on about their point of view, suggesting that their view is the only one, and they know everything, that they are the font of all knowledge, and to disagree is tantamount to ignorance, stupidity or idiocy. Maybe they don't mean to do that, but that's the way it reads. Not directed at anyone in particular, but as they say...if the cap fits...;)

The only thing childish about it is the fact that it was presented and those people trying to defend the indefensible.

I remember 1 night they were discussing/arguing etc about the newly introduced poll tax, I popped my head round the bar and said I reckoned Margaret Thatcher was doing a good job, I put my tin hat on and hid - the noise drowned out the juke box, they were good days them tha knows!

Bother! Sussed twice in one day. I must be slipping.

So much for your intention to ignore my posts.

But you just had to come in to do a bit of name calling.

Now that’s what I call a deliberate act and you have come out in your true colours.

Too damn right it is. I've never claimed to be the most intelligent, righteous person on Accyweb. I leave that up to you ;)

I am not too concerned that I can't get into the over 18's section, if people want to swear in there to show their lack of vocabulary then let them, I for one would prefer not to read it. I joined this forum to keep up to date with events in Accrington, not to satisfy a need to use foul and unnecessary language.

Sit back and enjoy the show, it's only the Butt being the Butt.

The 18 section isn't just about freedom to swear, other things do go on in there, it is an over 18's section because the rest of accyweb is often read by children so any thread with an adult theme be it women's problems or even the odd bawdy joke that's where it happens.

Do not pre-judge what you haven't seen, please.

Just a little reminder that it is against forum rules to try and get round the swearing ban by the use of an asterix.

Some people seem to have forgotton.

This is a family forum.

I thank you.:)

I'm not.;)

It's just a pet hate, swearing, especially since it's banned from the site, except in the over 18's section, where you can say what the Friggy Nell you want.;)

Besides your vocabulary is expansive enough to get your point over without using disguised bad language.:):D

I quoted a newspaper's report, which quoted verbatim what Stuart Hall had said on a B.B.C. radio station.

The report was about his use of the words, in relation to ten year old's knowledge of the subject. That was what caused the shock, not the words themselves, but the context in which he used them.

Both words are to be found in the dictionary, and are not words that aren't allowed on this forum.

I've no problem with foul language in the right context, and the right context on this forum is in the over 18's section.;)

So in the context of a thread about Stuart Hall' suitability as a broadcaster, the answer is yes.

(You'll have to get out of bed much earlier to ever catch me out.;)

Re: Aster1x swear**g.

I know the site moderators spend a lot of their time reading threads, and deleting bad language.

Forum rules state swearing and bad language isn't allowed, nor can it be disguised by use of alpha/numeric substitutes, or by use of an asterisk.

It is easy to forget, and I was recently guilty myself, when I couldn't think of a description of Baroness Uddin, other than an inappropriate word, which had to be deleted.

I'm sure many of us could help the mods a bit, by remembering the rules we agreed to, when we joined Accy Web.

The swear filters are there for a reason there are children on this family site
anyone found trying to get round the filters will get an infraction and if they do it again will get a ban.
so please do not try to bypass the site rules and filters thanks
