Aster1x swear**g.

I've noticed recently that we seem to be slipping back into getting past the swearing issue by use of the asterix, or alpha-numeric words.

Could please we remember that this is a family forum, and besides having members here who are children, we also have people of all ages who mightn't want to read bad language, no matter how it's barely disguised.

I'm no prude, but for adult themed posts we have the over 18 section, and besides, I'm sure we all have the necessary vocabulary to say what we mean without having to resort to bad language.:)

There was a post about this from Mick, which makes it very clear what is, and isn't acceptable.

Just remove their posts if they argue back after rule braking. I thought argueing with a mod is also against the rules.

I will have to admit to being guilty of this, i presumed it ok because others were doing the same, point taken garinda, as it was when mick posted it, it does seem that a reminder was required though, there is no call for it, and no argument against it.

That would be great as it would help us no-end because at the end of the day, we can’t always view every single post that has been posted and it’s down to everyone to help look after accyweb.

Well i must agree i am guilty of this but thought it was acceptable as i`d already seen it done. Its all very good and well having an 18 section but how do you get into that unless you are known to be 18? i`m well over believe me , i would like access , give it to me....Now. Only joking although as i`m approaching 1000 posts it would be nice.

Contact a moderator with proof of age, or get someone who knows you to vouch for your age....hey presto, you'll be in.

I'm not sure, the usual way of verification is to get someone known to the mods to vouch for your age.

Don't you know anyone who has been to one of the Accy Web meets?

You need to know someone who is in turn known to the mods who can verify your age.

I recently verified some ones age.

As stated earlier, this is a family forum, and swearing, even when thinly disguised, is against forum rules.

I like a laugh, and have been known to go 'quite' near to the mark, but I hate swearing, especially on a forum where we have children as members, as well as quite a lot of adults who dislike it too.

Rules is rules, and we should all abide by them, myself included.

I'm sick of reading, and reporting, posts where people try and get round the swearing ban by use of an asterix.

Being a family site, this is also against the rules of this forum.

If you can't get across what you want to say, without using foul language, please feel free to make use of this thesaurus.

Re: Aster1x swear**g.

My comments aren't aimed at any particular person.

I think a reminder is due for all members of this family forum, and we do have members who are children, as well as a host of adults who find swearing offensive.

Now if you can just find a responsible adult, to vouch that you are over the age of eighteen, you can swear to your heart's content in the over-18's section.;)

danny27 05-08-2008 15:25

Re: Aster1x swear**g.

Garinda, i cant. Reason being is because i dont know anybody on this site personally, i dont have the time to meet anybody to vouch my age, due to the fact im either working or with my family, and you also cant believe me just by looking at my picture apparently.

So there you go.

Dont worry, Danny is a good boy from now on :)

Re: Aster1x swear**g.

Just a little reminder.

I've just reported a post that contained the most hated of all the four letter swear words, even though he must have thought this was acceptable by having a space between the middle letters.

This is a family site, and we do have children and young people as members, as well as countless others for whom foul language is unacceptable, no matter how thinly you try and disguise it, and try and get round the rules of this forum.

Jambutty, if you want to continue posting foul four letter words, there are plenty of adult sites were your bad language might be more appreciated. The majority of us here at Accy Web don't appreciate it, and quoting a karma message is no excuse.

Dont mean to be a killjoy but have the mods stopped modding ? I have read 2 threads tonight on here in the last 10 mins and both have had unsuitable language or asterisks.
I know all you mods have a job and half checking the site but it seems to be the same culprits over and over again and yet they are still allowed to be members of this FAMILY site.
I know I should click the report button but whats the point when the culprits are not being dealt with.
Sorry Mods this isnt an attack on you but surely enough should be enough. I have also spoken to someone today that very rarely uses accyweb now for this reason. so I thought id check it out and low and behold they are right. its still blatantly being waved under everyones nose.

wouldnt be so bad if they kept the use to over 18s.
I myself have used asterisks in the past but then was asked (not personally) in a general thread by the mods not too, along with other members.
Since, most have stopped myself included, but others seem to think that they can get away with it because they have so many times.

Just where in the rules does it state that there is a time limit on posting in threads?

Let me see if I have got this right – when someone else brings up my past posts it is OK and applauded by certain members, but when I do exactly the same it is not OK and receives puerile comments.

If anyone needs to get a life it is you Less and whilst you’re at it, growing up would help.

At it again Butt are you?

I don't need to quote the rules to you, you spend most of your time reading them so you can gain pleasure reporting even the slightest infraction.

I might need to grow up, (if your an example of what that means, no thanks), but you need to read what you've posted over the past year then in one of your lucid moments you'd realise you didn't used to be so senile.

Not me mate, I don't make that mistake. I have given you both good and bad but it was never an accident. I also dont think I have ever but swear words in a karma message

Re: Aster1x swear**g.

would it maybe be an idea to have a general 'argument' thread? that way everytime ppl wanna go off subject and bicker, they can go on there and not interfere with the OP??

WillowTheWhisp 23-09-2008 19:29

Re: Aster1x swear**g.

Wouldn't that only be encouraging them to argue?

Mind you, I do remember donkeys ages back a message board I co-Admined where we had 'the argybargy' board for a while.
:D

onlyme 23-09-2008 19:32

Re: Aster1x swear**g.

a lot of threads seem to turn into bickering anyway, dependant on whos osting, so at least it would keep the OP open for a proper debate

Arguing is one thing this thread is about bad language and that is not encouraged on this family forum

You know Neil, you are right it wasn’t you.

When I woke up half an hour or so ago I did so with the thought in my head that it wasn’t you but someone else.

My apologies.

You know as well as I do that I was QUOTING what someone had put whilst awarding some Karma.Never a truer word spoken.

You quoted two separate posts.

My original post wasn't aimed at any particular member, there were a few culprits doing it at the time.

I named and shamed you when you decided it was okay to post the 'c' word on a family forum. Something that still shocks and offends me, and I guess I'm not alone.

You're not on your own, Garinda.

I'm a long way from being a prude but that is one word I can't stand and would never say. :(

The 'c' word and the 't' word are horrible and as with Lilly and Garinda I am far from being a prude. Just find these words totally unacceptable!!!

What is the difference between stating; “the ‘c’ word” and “the ‘t’ word” and me quoting what someone had posted as comment accompanying a Karma award?

There’s a distinct smell of outraged hypocrisy here.

Unlike Pudenda which just feels nice as it rolls off the tongue.

Actually I thought it was against forum rules to quote private messages on site. And whilst this was a karma message I would see that as being private. I would just have reported it to the mods but most certainly wouldn't want everybody to know that is how people thought of me!!!

Using words that mean the same as those other words that many people will not understand without looking them up first is just as bad. I have reported the post.

Unlike some nasty pieces of work masquerading as human beings I am not asking for you to banned from the forum. That is a decision for the mods.

There is nothing about PM’s from members.

When you receive a letter, email or PM the content is yours to do with as you see fit, except claiming the text as your own work. So I had every right to publish the Karma comment. I published it to establish the nastiness of some people. I don’t care what people think of me.

Oh you poor ignorant child, it is a perfectly legitimate medical term and not a swear word, unlike what you so called 'quoted, just because you found nothing in the rules to contradict this fact don't take it out on me!

Ok so there is nothing in the rules stopping you from posting it and I was wrong. I still wouldn't have put a comment like that on the site, you of course used your perogative.

Well I must admit it doesn't take much but I am totally confused. When referring to the Pudenda are we referring to the Pudendal Nerve - Artery or canal and what has it got to do with the use of bad language.See a doctor.:signthis:

Oh flippin' 'eck. Pudenda, noun, plural: the genital organs, especially of a female.

Am I the only one to see Less's post as, well shall I say, a bit risqué in its essence? Either Less is very naughty - or I am. :D

No your not, the butt was pleased to tell me he reported it, I have however, (hopefully), put him right on that score and under no circumstances should pudenda, (a really beautiful term for the female genital area), be associated with the coarse word that he seems to have a fascination with!

12: All posts on the forum to be made in English. If you wish to communicate in a foreign language, please do so on the PM system, also PM=PRIVATE MESSAGE and all pm's are just that Private and must not be posted on the forum no matter how old they are

Well there you go, I had a feeling SOMEBODY would know the rules, nice one mick! And I agree with all who say that persistant swearing should lead to a ban, even in the guise of asterisks, or when quoting others, it is still posting swear words.

I stand corrected.

The rules also state unnecessary swearing.

Does that mean we can swear to our heart’s content if we deem it necessary?

Excuse me? What thread are you on? Have you meandered so far down your own version of reality that you've forgotten why this thread was started?

It's called,

Aster1x swear**g.

The little plot you had at the beginning of this thread has obviously gone, you got it wrong, you actually admit in this post that you got it wrong, (no apology to the members you abused whilst getting it wrong), however the Butt may be on the ropes that doesn't stop him coming out fighting!

Just explain to the rest of us, what exactly are you're fighting against?

If it's we the members, then, why post?

If it's accyweb, then, why post?

If your just howling at the moon, then, why post?

If you have some form of illness that gives you the need to hate everyone, then post, why shouldn't we be the victims of your Bile if it makes you feel better?
