Re: Darby in Deepest Deutschland
hi darby, i used to live in oswald st, church in the fifties, my last name is clarkson, i have an older brother & one younger than me , that is my maiden name , do you remember billy fenton, the mcgouchlin brothers, mavis& kieth livesey, barbara & anne johnson, sandra long, if so you may remember me & my brother bernard we used to play on t tampits to well good luck & this is a brill & friendly site not been on long myself c/y [smiley=bye2.gif]from mary
Mavis and Keith Livesey I can remember (Mavis always seemed to give me a thump - maybe I was a bad'un). Billy Fenton was my best mate when I went to Church Kirk school. Haven't seen him for more than 25 years.
I think I remember your brother Bernard....yes it's coming back bit by bit. I was only 18 months old when we moved to Oswald Street from Burnley and we moved to 25 Henry Street when I was 4(Fred Kirkham bought the house from us when we moved to India Street about 1951/2).
My best friend was Fred Parkinson... Freddy Twamtwacks (we use to go and sit at the corner of Church Commercial and watch the trams). Freddy had a slight lisp and could only call them Twams on't Twacks.
He had a sister called Brenda who I saw about 12 years ago. She told me that Fred had died....Shame ....he was a nice lad.
I aim to go in the Tanpits (now the Plough I believe) when I come over next weekend. But I've got to go to the Rovers with my eldest lad, and then pick-up the Grandchildren from Glasgow on Sunday, So it'll have to be Monday or Tuesday. Still I look forwards to walking round Church and Ossy, I always seem to meet somebody I know.
It's a very friendly site..but what else would you expect from Accy, Ossy, and Church folks.
