Im think I remember Ewbank being there and also my mum having a sweper,seem to recall it being a lemon yellow colour and not massively efficient!

My mum used to work at Google Page Rankingestige, and she worked on the ewbank sweepers and people used to smuggle parts out and then build them over a period of time, no wonder they went bust.

I am late in finding this thread. It was my great grandfather, Richard Walton Kenyon, whose firm Entwisle & Kenyon made the Ewbank Carpet Sweeper. They operated from Ewbank Works behind Cannon Street and St James Street and made the ewbank manmgle, Ewbank Ladder etc before the sweeper which was to become "The Ewbank". me mam worked at ewbank from just after the war until its demise, i also did for a spell in the 60s, (best canteen in accy):)
