Jon Anderson from Yes
Hello to all you Accringtonians!
I'm an Italian guy with British relatives, though I've never actually been to Accrington...all I know about it is due to my love for the pop band"Yes",whose vocalist,Jon Anderson, was actually born in your town almost 59 years ago...I once spoke to him after a gig,and he actually didn't seem to have a Lancs accent!Has he got any connection with Ireland???Well,I'd really love to come in touch with his relatives up there, and get to know how the town of Accrington deals with having such a star being born here! |
Re: Jon Anderson from Yes
I don't think most people even know who he is, sorry to dissapoint you Gianni! You never know, though, good luck with your seach, I will follow it with interest....
ps my mother-in-law is from Zocca (BO) - birth village of Vasco Rossi if that's any interest to you.......? Also did you know that Mick Hucknall has a lovely appartment near to Via Brera in Milan? Useless info, but never mind! ;D |
Re: Jon Anderson from Yes
I remember when Anderson was with the "Warriors" and their studio was an old shop on Henry Street in Church..,all the kids used to go in and watch them. They were voted 3rd best act on a programme called "Thank Your Lucky Stars" in 1963....1st and 2nd spots went the Beatles & the Stones respectively....They used to drive round in an old green bedford van - the sort with the sliding driver and passenger door....and they had a great pair of bull horns on the roof.....which gives me an idea for my wheelie bin...

My mum was in the same class as Jon at St Chrissies! |
Re: Jon Anderson from Yes
Jon Anderson used to live on Norfolk Street. He was born in 1944 and left for the bright lights of London circa 1966. I worked with another member of the Warriors, Mick Brereton, on the highways dept during the summer of '69.

Re: Jon Anderson from Yes
The Warriors also practiced in a wood hut on Downham Drive Fern Gore. Mick Foster was another member of the group. He lived in the first or second house on Downham Drive. I'm not sure if Jon Anderson ever lived up Fern Gore or not.

Re: Jon Anderson from Yes
Anyone remember "Tanglefoot?"
|
Re: Jon Anderson from Yes
Regarding Tanglefoot, I used to work with a guy called John Wilkinson who used to drive them around from gig to gig in his white Jaguar in the mid 70s.

Re: Jon Anderson from Yes
I used to go to Jon's house after school with my friends, we'd clean all the lipstick messages off the van for them. We'd also watch them rehearse at st Augustine's church hall in Huncoat. Sadly, Ian Wallace , a drummer in The Warriors died in February after an amazing musical career.
