Complicated isn't it? I've always thought it fun going in and out of that little bit of Altham on the way to Clayton. (of which, don't forget, there is a top end and a bottom end)

There is a list of them all in Shurmer's guide Roy .. don't know whether you want me to list them all or what.

Some I have never heard of e.g. Goosebutts, Rishton, Cocker Lumb, Oswaltdtiwistle... must be around 120.

My edition is (I think) 1988 .. if I have read the Roman Numberals correctly::pblink:

MCMLXXXVlll

Could be a few more now !

Think Shillelagh can possibly confirm or argue this but I think Rising Bridge is part of Hyndburn as far as the national government is concerned i.e. Greg is the MP for that area, but part of Rossendale as far as local government is concerned.

I posted to this thread before I realised it was an old one, it looks like others have too, you got me there willow, but since we are now here, the new houses in Altham have a name of there own, I just can't remember what it is, and our office is right in front of it, and I work on that estate often.

Ok here goes Gayle, Rising Bridge postal address is Accrington, BUT we are in Rossendale the boundary for the borough is just past Hollands pies where the little row of cottages are, the house on its own is still in Rossendale but its just after that. We pay rates etc to Rossendale, our MP is indeed Greg but most of Haslingden is down to where the Woolpack is and tesco. Our telephone numbers are rossendale as well. Anything else i missed? :D

Oh yes our postcodes are BB5 but when you get to just past the school on rising bridge road and past the roundabout the postcodes change to BB4!!!
