This place certainly would have got my vote when I was in Ossy.

But you lot are lucky to have Lancs chippies at all! In this dourest of dour holes they call 'em fish shops, look at you funny if you ask what pies they have (NO CHEESE & ONION OR STEAK PUDS!!) and then offer you "bits" with your chips ie the bits of congealed fried batter that have dropped of the fish in the fryer. The lazy beggars don't even talk right. For instance to order two lots of fish & chips you go into the establishment and say "twice, please". Ask for a teacake and they send someone out for a currant teacake! It's high time for the last round of the wars of the roses.

[quote=Eric;438581]I know that Kingston is a little out of the way, and not quite Accy and district, but there is a great chippy/pub at the corner of Johnson and King St. If you are ever in Kingston, and feel the need for fish and chips, try the Pilot House Pub. No steak and kidney pud, but there is steak and kidney pie, scotch eggs, steak and oyster pie,

Steak and oyster pie... That sounds amazing!..I'm thinking of getting out there for that alone...

Back on track, there's a chippy on Bryan St. nr. the Infirmary in blackburn, it's run by Tom(an ossy lad) with his sidekick Joyce. The food is excellent and always packed and queing outside on a friday aft. The only one downfall(and you know I'm not one to complain or owt), it's not open for supper, so get down for your dinner or tea if ya know what's good for ya!:D

I was brought up in Great Harwood. I have yet to find a chippy as good as Clayton street. They make their own pies and puddings. Long live Jack and Freda.

Is that still open? I heard good things about it and went a couple of years ago. It said it was closed until further notice. Is it now up and running again?
