Re: Is This Love?

You don't need to trim a cat's claws it will do that itself. Get it a scratching post if you like your furniture unshredded. It will sharpen its claws on that and will bite any raggy bits off with its teeth. Alternatively, it may sharpen its claws on you if you decide to bath it. :D

Our cat has had to be bathed a couple of times, due to oily mud, and it was traumatic - for her and for me. She even gets very concerned if she comes in the bathroom and finds a human in the bath. She puts her paws up on the side, gives you a big-eyed look of sheer horror and miaows loudly. Strangely, she doesn't worry if you're in the shower.

I've found this to be a good diversion for the cat, I put it on my screen and it leaves me alone while it tries to catch the balls.:D

Another good trick to keep them occupied is a torch or one of those laser pointer things that people use a presentations.

We've got scratching posts - they still seem to prefer the furniture, especially the carved table legs to which they have added some of their own carvings.

Follow your pet's travels with a 'cat cam' | the Daily Mail

There you are less when your kitty's allowed out you will be able to see what she's up to!!! :D

If you start bathing them as kittens they aren't too bad about it. Like Mummiboo said they do get this wicked pout and then a grating growl but it keeps the fleas off.

Same go with clipping the nails. Our cats are mostly outdoor cats and do alot of climbing and such. I find clipping just the end tip off keeps their claws from getting too long.

Also hinders their ability to grab birds in flight and catch up with the "baby" squirrel. Never fear, when the dogs get to playing too rough with them, they can still climb the trees like a rocket!

A tip regarding fleas (from noting Brian's post re bathing). Get your kitten used to eating a little garlic in its food every now and then. For some reason fleas hate it and they won't live on a cat with garlic in its blood. Don't give it too often and it's also better to cook it, raw garlic can be harmful.

I squeeze a drop of odourless garlic (from the capsules) into the cats food, and that seems to work too.....and they don't seem to mind eating it.

Whoa hang on,I'm writing this whilst being interfered with by an active kitten, can we just get back to the learning to love the darned thing without having to take responsibility for the ow! (I'm still suspicious of this feline.):D

If it lives it lives, if I die because of lack of blood, will you be as sorry?

As for the bad garlic breath, I wouldn't worry about that - the kitten will get used to it. :p:D
