Re: Carvery
we went on a sunday, my only complaint was the waiting time in the queue, it was really busy, the chef serves your meat and you help yourself to as much veg as you want, its 5.95 on a sunday.

Re: Carvery
Try Gamecock in Great Harwood.

They obviously buy there meat in bulk, and maybe from different sources to get the best price? (Only guessing here though). No excuse for soggy veg. though ... is probably frozen .. certainly the carrots appear to be. Suppose is best to get the chicken .. very rarely can people make that tough. As said previously, get what you pay for. |

Re: Carvery
I think there is another pub on Grane Rd - the Grey Mare(?), where we used to go for lunch when I worked in Blackburn in the early '80s.
We went in the Redcap a few times when we were over last month, a good meal every time. The Gamecock was a disappointment - a couldn't care less attitude from the staff. The Three Fishes at Mytton was very good but not really a carvery. Oaklea was also good as were BaltiStan and the Indian in Warner St. Must also give mention to the cafe in the Arcade, really wonderful toasted currant teacake bacon sandwiches. |

Thanks Wadey - that is as I remember it. Never knew the landlords name but think he had a son in the RAF - a jet jockey who had flown Lightnings, there were plenty of stunning photos around.
Bernie - you don't know what you are missing XXX |
