Without wishing to rattle Doug's cage on this one .. know it is a sensitive subject to him, but would like to ask a curious question here. Why do you wish in the first place to seek out a medium ? Is it because you would like to get in touch with your dear departed, to give you some solice that they are OK ?

The hope that there is summat else after death ?

That they can optimistically tell you something about your future/past so that you can look forward to a bright future? (or otherwise). Can't think of other reasons, except just good fun, like reading your stars in the morning paper.

Would really like to know.

When my friend lost her son tragically some years ago she was finding it very hard to come to terms with her loss, she had bereavement councelling at the doctors but that didn't help her. A friend of hers took her to see a lady in the Church Kirk area and she said she was really good, she told her quite a lot of stuff that was personal to the two of them. This helped her immensely, so I suppose for some people that verification of their beliefs is important.

No worries Kate, for me it a mixture of reasons. I’ve always been a bit that way inclined, “not the Mandy route” the other one.

Over the last couple of years I needed to have some question answered, some personal, and some directional. Some have been answered, some haven’t.

I’ve always wanted to know if there’s anything after this life and how much of us survives. I’ve had a lot of evidence but I’m still undecided on some matters.

Mediums aren’t allowed to predict the future under the false mediums act, but they can give a message that gives the sitter a choice of direction.

Not all mediums are good; a bad medium can damage spiritualism in the same way as any bad practitioner, but any reasonable medium can have a bad day and come across as poor, its give and take. But a medium can’t do anything if you aren’t open to them; medium ship is a partnership between all concerned, Sprit, the medium and the seeker.

From my perspective I use my local spiritualist Church as my church, it’s where I pray, send my thoughts out to others in need and to seek forgiveness for my misdeeds.

Yes Bernadette! I think if you ask your friend I think this will be Sue Cook. She lives in that area!!

Apparently very very good.

I don't think there could be anything worse in life than losing one of your children .. I would want to string myself up. That is good if she had some comfort here, in whatever form.

That answers the first reason, but what about the rest of us, that come to terms with death, what is it that you are seeking ?

OK Doug .. just seen yer post after I had posted.

I'm sceptical to say the least, as I am about organised religion too.

But if it helps and comforts people then it must be benefical.

I have always been curious and after what my friend told me I wouldn't hesitate in going for a reading if I felt the need. :)
