Healthy eating

How many people bother eating healthily?

I just went shopping for loads of fruit and veg and some fish to accompany my salad and I spend nearly double my usual shop.

Now I am trying to eat my plate of salad and its killing me :p I am sweating with all the crunching I am having to do, so I must be losing weight at least, but its so bloody stressful! And it takes longer to eat!

How will you cope when you have false teeth? :D
Eating lettuce is like chewing a wet hankie.

I solve the need for '5 a day' by using a juice extractor - no chewing needed.

I love fresh fruit but we never seem to have a great choice of really juicy stuff here.

Re: Healthy eating

My meal today consisted of:

  • 3 full large carrots
  • 7 cherry tomatoes
  • 5 mushrooms
  • 1 spoonful of coleslaw
  • 100g fish medley (crayfish tails, mussels, prawns)
  • handful of green leaf salad
  • 3 teeny weeny childrens sausage rolls as a treat (though I felt obliged to save them to last an I was so full)
For dessert I had an activia yoghurt and a banana.

Tired out after eating all that! Going to the pub for a drink soon!

You've made me think now! :D

OK, what have I eaten today? Breakfast - fresh orange juice, toast and honey (2 slices), coffee. Lunch - Cod in parsley sauce (the frozen sort - microwaved), 2 slices of bread and butter, slice of cheese and leek flan, half a pomegranate. Dinner - grilled lamb chop, low fat noodles, lettuce with low-fat salad cream, olives with feta cheese and garlic, strawberries and ice cream, half a banana. Snack - several cherries and a few grapes. Drinks - 1 glass Coke Zero, 2 cups coffee, nearly a litre of sparkling spring water.

I like salad but I couldn't live on it. Celery is good - it has almost no calories - unless you spread it with peanut butter (like I do) then it's scrumptious but has calories. Cook a big load of spinach in a little bit of olive oil with a sprinkling of crushed garlic (in a pan with a lid on, for 5 minutes or so). It's delicious and filling and so-o-o-o good for you.

Eat healthily but don't go mad and overdo it. Bonne appetite! :)

You're right there, Mummiboo.

Isn't it annoying how all the junk is so cheap? :(

We measure if the food was healthy in this house if we are alive when we finished the meal :)

If you're a good girl, and eat up all your salad, you can have one of these for pudding.;)
