anyone wanna quit smoking with me?
 

I really need to quit smoking... ive tried a few times before and always failed (obviously)
Wondering if anyone else fancys quitting at the same time?

I think it will be more likely to work if you dont do it on your own....
That i and i dont want to have to admit that i have failed lol

I am not telling anyone when I quit.

I think there is more chance of you making it, if people aren't constantly saying " so have you had one yet?? have you given in yet?? " I am just gonna stop. Ginger will notice, but I doubt anyone else will for a while.

I am gunna go to smoking cessation on tuesday so will have my last fag on tuesday night...
i managed to quit for 2 and a half years, but that was cos i had a good reason(pregnancy and breast feeding), thats not gunna be happening again lol.....

i really dont want to quit cuz i enjoy having a fag gives me something to do wen i get board but i have just bought a car and its made me realise that i need to save money to have to give up. i really want just a little puff on one i am missing it :(

I need to quit smoking... i am having trouble breathing, i dont enjoy it anymore.. i know that my breathing is gunna get worse when i quit before it gets better and i am not looking forward to that!

Thats what i did when i gave up, didnt tell anyone in fact i didnt know i was giving up all i did was woke up one morning and thought i wonder if i can go an hour without a fag! and then i thought i wonder 2 hours and so on and so on and then by then end of the day i thought well im not having one now or i might as well have had one first thing this morning! because i am so stubborn i wouldnt give in. I never thought i was going to give up so never told anyone and now years later i still dont smoke and have no desire to dont get me wrong it must have been at least a year before i stopped having cravings.

After putting on weight i thought to myself im going to start smoking again so i bought some fags and a lighter sat down in the morning with a brew and lit a fag! i dont think so it was the worst experience ever! i felt so sick and it hurt my throat when i took a drag i had half a fag and that was it! ive decided even if i wanted to start smoking i couldnt now its horrible. lol

i think u can do it i dont have any fags and no money in my purse to temp me to go buy any either i keep thinkin wat it is doing to me and wat i cud spend the money on that i save from buyin fags :)

Carry on as you are just take an hour at a time theres no presure i still wanted a fag for about a year after i just thought humm that smells lovely i want one but im not gonna and then when the smell ha gone its ok again you dont miss it as much when you are on your own because there is nothing to remind you.:)

i have quit ; been 4weeks this thursday ; im doin realy well ; haven;t had any help; it dose bother me sometimes but im not givin in ;cuz it passes after awhile ; and im savin for a new pink laptop; and new phone

Instead of picking at crappy foods, buy some fruit!! or Lollipops!! they last ages if you suck them, and keep taking it out of your mouth and putting it back in resembles what you do with a ciggie, so your hands wont feel lost.

i did say the only way of not putting loadz of weight on was to munch on fruit instead of crap but lollies is a gd idea gonna get loadz tomoz haha ;)

I smoked 40 a day, but gave up 30 years ago 22nd Feb 1978 acctually, it was the first time the doc talked to me about smoking, he said he knew how hard it was but I should cut down and smoke a less tar brand. I just said sod it and haven't had a fag since, but I have been struggling with weight ever since, I regularly diet and lose 2 to 3 stone, I usually put on around two and a half stone in summer and lose it again in the winter, the most I've ever weighed is 14 stone 11lb the least is 11 stone 10lb. Before I gave up smoking I weighed 11 stone 7lb and was 6ft 4in tall, I could eat and drink what I wanted and never put pound on, weighed the same from leaving school up to giving over smoking,

Id do it with ya, but im afraid i dont smoke anymore, gave up nearly 8 years ago, while pregnant....piled on the weight too, but now iv conquered that too;)

Wont be giving up anytime soon, but wish you well with it, be positive and keep busy (not on here, that wont help), that is the secret.

good luck to you in trying to give up smoking, i stopped in february, but, i went to my medical centre and got patches, they were brilliant, for me, don't suit everyone, and was monitored by the practice nurse, have been off patches for 4 weeks now, feel ok, but am putting on weight even though i only have one meal a day work full time, and do not eat very much in the way of sweet foods. do try your best to give up. if anyone can suggest a way to remove these extra pounds, i would appreciate it

Ive been up to the clinic tonight, they have given me patches and an inhalator. i did the carbon monixide puffer thingy and it came up as 22, 5 times more than a none smoker but not as bad as i expected.. the guy before me got 50!! will pick them up tomorrow and quit on friday! not looking forward to it :(

unfortunatly i have to go through the rigmoral of patches and gum etc before i can get my beloved champix

champix works and you get no cravings but silly me started again and now i have to go get my patches etc and pretend im at least trying to give up until i get champix which will do the trick

tried telling the smoking people there was no way i was putting myself through the cravings and bad moods knowing that if i get champix its much easier to stop but they are insistant i try patches and gum etc before going on champix;)

you know most of these people havnt even smoked themselves and i asked then what gives them the right to get snotty when i slip and have a sneaky fag unless you have been there and given up yourself, do yourself a favour keep smoking and say you cant manage on nicotine replacement and ask for champix

you wont get champix if you have mental illness or heart problems though but its very effective

yep i gave up for a few months but had a row with an ex and started again lol

i could go to the pub and enjoy a beer without a fag which i tought woudl be the hardest , i didnt t want a fag after a meal and i didnt even fancy one when my friends lit up

then a bloody woman pi**ed me off big time and i went straight to the shop for the fags , pulled up in my car and smoked 5 in a row lol

I quite smoking for around 18 months (just before falling pregnant and until the boys were about 6 months) Then when I found out my ex was "playing away" I went and bought a packet, not the brightest thing to do but hey, was my own choice. I will give up one day, just not yet...

Champix worked great for me, so if after a while the patches and stuff don't seem to be working for you, mention it to them when you go back

I quit about 10 years ago after smoking 20/30 a day for best part of thirty odd years, Just got up one day and didn't want to smoke, not really any trouble and I never put weight on either. Good Luck you can do it.
