Was the Woodnook at the end of Marsden St? Carter St runs off Willows Lane down to Charter St I think.

I remember that the number 1 bus from Clayton to Ossy left from the Forts Arms and stopped at the Black Dog in Ossy .... it seems that every bus stop was by a pub ... altho' I can't remember them all (The Load of Mischief stands out) ... of course, I never thought I would have to.

That's a little young to be going into the pub:eek: I waited until I was about 14 before I went into the Prince of Wales, put down my two bob, and, in my best deep voice, ordered a pint of mild:alright: Soon found out that I preferred bitter, tho'. Thwaites' bitter, I still miss it ... altho' I suspect it has changed for the worse, like me:dancedog:

Did anyone ever try to do the pub crawl from the Black Dog down to the Church Commercial .... tried it several times (only arrested once) and never made it .... Buddy of mine, Sid Wright, said that it could be done if one only had a half pint in each pub .... maybe, but god didn't make half days.

Planned to do that pub crawl on my fortieth, think I made it to the Foxhill(if that is the one they painted yellow) before I needed a bit of sleep. Went to my mates had a couple of hours then carried on. We must be barmy!!
