I'm thinking it was Market St. Ran between Northgate and King William St.
Ribblesdale pub opposite at one end and the old Market Hall at the other

Cashy, I've got it in my mind it was on a street over from the Sun and Swan , Johnny Forbes sports shop on one end (Northgate) and Burtons at the other end (King William St. ). Got to nearly 40 years since I was last in , so the mind might be playing tricks  ;)

I remember a shopping arcade Victorian style where my mum once bought me a hat. It was near a large cobbled open market area where my uncle had a stall selling army surplus stuff.
It is difficult to think where on the map it was -somewhere under the now demolished Arndale is the best I can do.
