Couscous, Anybody Tried It?
Was just wondering if anybody has tried Couscous? Have seen it being used quite a lot on the telly lately and was thinking of giving it a go. If you have tried it what did you have to accompany it and how did you cook it?

I like it and it's easy to cook. You just cover it with boiling water and a little salt, simmer it for 10 minutes (or as long as the instructions on the packet say - there are different "strengths" of couscous) then leave it for about 5 minutes. Stir it up with a fork and it's done. I sometimes use it where I might use boiled rice.

Ewwwww! I had this whilst in Tunisia years ago, also tried it here. I have to say I don't like it at all. Phil on the other hand loves the stuff, and so does our 15 yr old daughter.
They like the Ainsley Harriot ones that you just add water to. Gail xxxx |
Re: Couscous, Anybody Tried It?
You can use it just like you'd use rice, so have it as an accompaniament with something like a chilli or curry, or cold with chopped tomato and cucumber in is a nice way.

Re: Couscous, Anybody Tried It?
The look of this type of food puts me off too....and I eat with my eyes and my nose first....... that is to say, I look at it and test out the aroma....if either are suspect then I give it the flick, I am sure that this is a survival thing.
If food looks horrible then I wouldn't put it into my mouth. I am notorious for not even trying foreign/different food. I like my food plain and recognisable. I would not be a good guest on 'Come Dine with Me'. |
