I think I have a spare 3 PAYG dongle and sim you could borrow for a while if you like Bernadette? Or even take it to the new house with a laptop and try it.

They are not satellite but work from the phone masts. I have found using an extension to move it near a window helped a lot in a tin box of a hotel i was in once.

3 do a wireless router that looks like a great idea. Stick it near a window or upstairs where reception is good and get a good wifi signal all over your house with do dongle stuck in your laptop.


Bernadette - I have a Vodafone one you are welcome to try when you move if you find the 3 one Accylass offered you to try does not work for you.

If you go to 'Sitefinder' Mobile Phone Base Station Database you can put your postcode in and see the phone masts near you.

There is a Vodafone one between Clayon Street and the M65, a 3/T mobile one on Henry street.

On Victoria Street there are O2, 3 and T mobile ones. The nearest orange one I could spot is on Blackburn road so that might not be very good for you.

Hopefully the 3 one will work for you as I think the price is good for what you get on the pay as you go one.

Bernadette, I have t-mobile, 3G, and an o2 dongle, if your service is better on any of those, I can lone you one untill you get your line in, I think you have my number, and I will drop it off if you need one.

Not been on much since the move but more to do with being comfy rather than connection. I'm using a 3 Dongle and as I say not a bad reception. Will see how things pan out but am looking towards getting a lap-top, think the dongle could be ok as a permanent fixture. Thanks for all the advise and offers of loans of dongles
