Did used to go regularly myself for my mum. particularly when she had a few jam jars... 1d if I recall.

Can just about remember the man there, but never knew his name ...probably I would have had to refer to him as a 'Mr' summat.

Didn't you get varying rates for woollens, cottons, etc ?

You a cheeky monkey Benipete !:p

Actually, did occasionally see some other girls wearing outfits of mine that were 'given' away. Was sorta' weird, but pleased someone else got some use out of them.

Nice introduction;)

Ya' know Jaysay, I can't find any record in the Introductory Forum where you introduced yourself way back in October 2005 ...

Nor Less for that matter .. except a sarky one where he was having a go at people joining just so they could play on our games... ;)

Two things:
First why was the man called Rag and Bone? I get the rag bit but what about the bone?

Secondly ( for Less) When I found this sight, it took me ages to get the hang of it and I began by replying to a quote. I had no idea I was supposed!! too follow a protocol. So I'm apologising now for not having introduced myself, but please don't be so hard on newbies

That was just a 'I am back' introduction after what appears to be some computer fail. You didn't think to do it originally ...

'Let them without sin, cast the first stone' .... :D:D:D

They also used to collect bones for making into glue, although I don't remember this at all. Maybe Health and Safety put a stop to it...:D

Do remember only about 40 years ago ... the bone merchants coming to my local butchers to pick up the bones... gawd did he stink. Nice looking lad too .. perhaps he scrubbed up well.. :D

Do they still have these I wonder ? What do butchers do with the excess bones ?

I wasn't being hard on a newbie, I was informing a newbie that the person accused by that newbie, of sarcasm was doing nothing more than giving a mild hint to go to introduce yourself, after all it is the first thing ALL of us are supposed to do, (it's in the rules you read when you agreed to abide by them), you did read them didn't you?
