The story so far:

L.C.C. owned the land, Hyndburn Borough Council applied for Planning Permission to turn into a car park, which was accepted.
HBC couldn't afford the price of the land, so was sold off at auction to a private buyer.
This is still the situation.
L.C.C. would dearly love to buy back the land and lease to HBC as a car park, but they now cannot afford it with the cutbacks.
The Pennine Reach scheme would have helped, but a certain councillor put a spanner in the works.

Please let us know if you hear anything.
