Venues for a Christening Do...
Hello All, Us again, Anyone suggest anywhere for a Christening Do,
I Have to think of the elderly in the family so no stairs please to function room and preferably a jukebox so I can fill it with money and play some music, may seem cheap but I've never danced at a christening? Not town centre beer prices and not looking like an absolute shed, Oh and won't look empty with 70 or less guests. Ta! |
Re: Venues for a Christening Do...
oh dear - I think you have us all stumped :( Not many places with no stairs (I believe Grants is nice but presume stairs (not been myself) and not many places with a jukebox these days.
Is money no object? I hired a jukebox for my hubby's birthday but it cost as much as, if not a little more, than a DJ. Accrington golf club would look empty with only a few guests. GreenHaworth golf club has steps up to it (but maybe they've made disabled access since I went last - many years ago) Ooooo - I know....Peel Park Pub. Lovely catering - I went to a funeral there about 6 months ago (not too expensive I believe) normal pub prices, quite central to accy (for people getting transport/taxis) disabled access round back for elderly/disabled and a lovely recently renovated room, and 70 would probably just about fill it! If I was having a christening - I think that's where I would have it! Job done me thinks ;-) |
Totally agree with the Peel Park. Sue , the landlady does scrumptious food, there is a jukebox and the room is lovely. It'd be a FAB place for a Christening

Re: Venues for a Christening Do...
2 places spring to mind though not sure about the juke box situation. Poplar Club is street level as is Accrington Stanley Clubhouse

Re: Venues for a Christening Do...
Ossy Social club is very good, ground floor, reasonable beer prises, no room hire fee (except a returnable deposit) the only problem is, is finding a date that's free, you can also book the room for Saturday nights for Birthday parties etc.

Re: Venues for a Christening Do...
Are you allowed outside catering in the Adelaide suite?
|
Re: Venues for a Christening Do...
You could also try the Brewers arms on thwaites road its big and the entrance is flat with wheel chair access they have a jukebox and an area that can be blocked off if need be we have had a few accyweb meets there so if you look through the gallery you should find photos of the place.
if you want there number pm me as its against site rules to put land line numbers on site without the permission of the person whose number it is. |

Re: Venues for a Christening Do...
well I rang the adelaide suite, all was fine, but their attitude stank, the guy who sorts out the reservations and the lady who does the catering, just rang burnley road bowling green club but you've to be a member to hold a function there? Might try brooks club in centre they've always been really good, had our wedding nite do there.

Re: Venues for a Christening Do...
Accy Cricket Club, has disabled access and disabled facilites, no juke box though but you can do your own catering and could set up a cd player, we have some speakers there that you could ask about using. Suitable for 100 guests but won't look at all empty with 50-70, call Kim on 07809 269354 and mention me! :mosher:
