Willow had the same avatar for the longest time.

Maybe my current avatar is the "oldest" in a sense. That's my grandad, Albert Ashton, born in 1898.;)

Do you know what year the photo was taken?

I believe it would be somewhere between 1915 and 1917. According to my late mother, he served in the Kings Own ... I presume in one of the service batallions of the Kings Own Royal Regiment (Lancaster). I assume it couldn't have been later than 1917, as he was wounded and gassed at Passchendaele. Also according to my mom, he was 16 when he joined up.

Re: Oldest avatar

Mine changes seasonally.

So like myself, it doesn't age.

The one that caused most fuss was the little winker.

http://www.accringtonweb.com/forum/f...eye-39338.html

It can be quite funny when people comment, and then it changes.

Sarah once commented that my avatar, of Edith Sitwell, looked like Pendy, but by then it had changed to Lord Leighton's Autumn painting.

Liking change, having the oldest avatar is a competition I'll never win.

:D

I reckon Lettie's bitten biscuit is the 'owdest running avatar on here. I think it's been around since when I first came on in September 2003.

Talking about avatars, I can't find my burning EU one to replace the Norwegian one tomorrow (seven days of solidarity). I can find an EU one with the swastika in the middle but ideally I was looking for a picture of the flag lying on the bottom of a toilet bowl with some brown substance on top.

Any ideas, anyone?

I think that the ones with swastikas on are being manufactured in Germany, against the time that the krauts buy Europe:rolleyes: You could perhaps find a French one with a white flag in the middle. I do believe that some entrepreneur could make a killing if he produced ass wipe with the EU flag on each piece:eek: In fact, there is probably a fortune to be made: imagine ones with Gordon Brown's picture on them.:D Jaysay would buy it by the truckload;):D

You know, bud, with modern technology ass wipe could become a growth insustry. Imagine the increased pleasure that bowel movements would give, if you could wipe away the residue using a picture of your least favorite ex .... or, better still, her lawyer.:D

You don't have to watch if you don't feel like it;) Although it would be more entertaining than most of the stuff on tv ... and, come to think of it, most of the football played on the opening weekend of the Premier League. However, I have no doubt that the constitution of the EU, like that of the US, and the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, recognizes a citizen's right to burn and/or soil the flag.:mosher: No doubt, there are those among us who have rolled up gaggers in papers bearing the image of various flags. Here are a few more ideas ... I know I'm biased, but I do really like the Canadian one.

I have had my avatar since sometime in 2003 (I think). In the early days we had a thread about all things jammy, and various members love of the fruity delicacy that is jam.
A favorite of mine at the time were jammy wagon wheels, hence the wagon wheel avatar. The only time that my avatar changed was when I went to New Zealand at the end of 2003 and came back to find that one of the Mods (and I highly suspect it was Mick) ;) had changed my wagon wheel to a small pile of biscuit crumbs. After accusations and enquiries into which lousy git had eaten my wagon wheel............it was reinstated :D

But surely a state of nothingness is a void ? A vacuum, where nothing can exist ...... so ? Or are you aligning yourself with the Gods ? :)

Plural?

No.

There's only me, in my state of nothingness.

:D

Aye, plural my friend. There are many religions, for example, Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindi, and some funny shaped stone the Bush men worship in the back of beyond to name a few, so yes plural. :) (even the Church of Icke, should you be that way inclined :D)

A singularity, maybe:confused: That's pretty montheistic:)

There's nothing in my state of nothingness, pre-Big Bang.

The idea of god/s only came along when monkeys were intelligent enough to shave, wipe their own arses, and put something on when it gets chilly.

Nothing beats nothingness.

Therefore I win.

:D

Will you stop trying to get this thread from wandering?

Rindy's nothingness is far too important.

Exactly.

I've only not changed my avatar at the moment, because 'nothing' seems suitable.

:D

Try looking at "Nothing" by The Script -lovely song, nice lyrics...sometimes Nothing can mean something...
It also says -"There's nothing" which i think is something you wrote earlier in the thread

Maybe, maybe not. As to montheistic, had you said monotheistic :) I would agree that in "Rindiworld" as seen by himself there is just him, alone at the beginning of all creation ;) but in "Our World" I accept there are those that believe in various deities who govern & control their existence & as such said deities are seen as responsible for an individuals personal fortunes/misfortunes.

I on the other hand believe in me, my family & friends & what I see & experience around me. Should some misfortune befall me, I'm pretty sure I can trace it back to some mundane influence & not some supernatural, omnipotent entity & should I enjoy good fortune I would place that as the result of my own endeavours & happy circumstance. :)

Oh pur-lease.

I won't be there.

Nothing will.

That's what's known as a 'joke' in 'Rindiworld'.

Inspired when you started on with all the mumbo-jumbo about gods.

There'd be nothing at all in the state of nothingness.

A void devoid of anything.

Even humour...or lack of it.

I'm aware & in "Our World" our tongue was firmly in our cheek when making said statement. ;)

Apologies.

Your meaning obviously escaped me, lost amongst the plethora of fancy words.

Sometimes less is more.
