A good booooook wi' Lanky Twang is the Lancashire Witches by Harrison Ainsworth..All the conversational narrative is in Lancashire dialect supposedly..only understood by reading it aloud..Only experts will know if its the real.stuff..cant tell myself..
For listening too theres plenty of folk group types to try out..Oldham Tinkers,Berrnardnsrd Wriggley.Five penny Piece....Even a Stanley accrington but dont know if hes local or what exactly he does..

I am confused in that how can you imitate any accent by reading a book,

It can be done ... but only by those who grew up hearing and speaking it. Others, if they try to speak it aloud, will be as successful as Dick Van Dyke (now that's a politically incorrect name:rolleyes:) trying to speak cockney.

Well spotted .Sorry for straying away and we are only talking accents.and not dialects...Will read the thread more carefully in future.
