Morcambe Bay Walk

My friend at work is doing this walk and I have decided to join him. I am a little late and signing up- so I have gone the online route. I will be doing it with some people from my friends church- :D

Anyway. I read the rules and know I cannot use the forum . So I wont link it here.

I was wondering- Has anybody done this walk? it is 9 miles.

Did it several years ago for charity. Morecambe Bay that is Rob.;)
As long as you are part of a party lead by an official guide you'll be OK.

Usual walking guidelines apply.
Appropriate footwear
Rucksac
Clothing layers
Wetwear
Water/Refreshments

Susie123 will probably advise too.

I believe that you can walk in water up to a foot deep.

Deeper than that max.... where you cross the river's main channels.
Think oomi goolie tribe *wink wink*
Worst bit is jumping across the streamways on the salt marshes.
Flipping slippy..go first before the banks get churned or broken up Rob ;)

Yes Susie will advise now she is back online after nearly three weeks in hospital.

I did the walk in 2007 in aid of the bursary fund at UCLAN, my alma mater. There is a walk most weekends for various charities, depending on tides. There were nearly 600 of us, with the official guide, Cedriic Robinson. The guide is essential as the channels can change course very quickly. It was a lovely sunny day in May when we went so we didn't need the wet weather stuff.

Wear old shoes, they will get sodden. A lot of people took them off on reaching the river channels which can be quite deep. Roll your trousers up - the water came over my knees but then I am only five foot nothing.

Don't know what the arrangements are for the return but we were supposed to get the train from Kent's Bank. As there were so many people waiting, we went to the pub round the corner to let the crush die down.

Think that's all I have to offer. It really doesn't seem like nine miles so - enjoy and hope the weather's fine!

Sorry to hear you've been in hospital. Hope you're on the mend now.

Thank you - I think the phrase is "as well as can be expected".

I hope the weather will be fine. I do have some old trainers but they let the water in. Perhaps I will wear shorts if it is nice....

Looks like you will require some dubbin on your gusset. When you look back at it you will say, he was right, I should have done it.
