She's only joking- she's one of the girls that needed transport & in my opinion is showing how you thing proms portray teenagers to be/feel/act like.

god i hate to sound old but what a complete farce it is that schools have proms its just another bollox status thing that costs parents a fortune and feel they have to comply or their child will feel unloved

school disco ,wear what you want - nuff said

limo= crap loads of cash

promm dress = even more crap loads of cash

extras = crap loads of cash

SCHOOL DISCO = quid in , tenner for drinks ,taxi home

probbably do the night for £20 and you probbably get to snog teh same bird as you would if it was a promm

No school proms in my younger days, we had a Christmas dance and had to escort a young lady from our age group to the big hall, dinner in the school dining room afterwards. There was always cabbage and mince for the main meal and prunes to follow. The strongest drink we had would be if we didn't put much milk in the tea.

Only speculation regarding dress was "No clogs".

By the way, if you are still stuck for transport I could probably be able to take you in new John Deere tractor and your mates could sit in the bucket on the front, now that's different. I would power wash it first.

I just managed to snap this unusual prom truck with my phone in Southport a couple of years ago. It drove up and down Lord street a few times.

Anyway young lady, I hope you have a wonderful time, enjoy it, get lots of photos for your album and then get back to normal.
Best of luck for the future.

I feel like most of you about this subject, that it must be hard on a parent's purse, and money could be spent in a more useful way.

It is competitive, however, if I were of this age again, I know I would love it and do my best to outshine all the other girls .. :D

What took me back last week was that a friend on Facebook posted a photograph of his young son at a 'Primary School' prom ! Still does live in Glasgow. :)

Sorry, can't help with the transport, Olivia, but have the best night ever.

Would it be something like this one, now I have posted it I think the photo is a A30, very similar.

Just for the youngsters who have never heard of Austins or A35's.

And I bet, like me, you got the old " school disco, pay to get in AND money for drinks, do you think we`re made of money. Didn`t have them in my day".
And for the ones who can`t go, it`s not unloved, just a disappointment, which is part of life, and how can we expect our kids to appreciate what they have if they`ve never experienced the disappointment of missing out.

It's not mine Olivia, I took the photo a few weeks ago at the Leyland car show.
I did have its bigger brother in 1962, a black Austin A40.
