Hair Straighteners

Wondering if anyone can help me. I have a pair of Hair Tools hair straighteners which need a new lead. Tried all over Accrington and Blackburn for a repairer, but no joy. Eventually contacted the company direct who told me the nearest repairer is in Leeds. Anybody know of anyone nearer.

I don't want to seem rude but it can't be that difficult to replace the lead. Do you not have a friend who is competent to do it for you?

Re: Hair Straighteners

Hi Sara.

I'm very sorry. My first post does read rather rude in its self. I wasn't having a dig at you, the way I was thinking of it at the time doesn't show in the post I posted, having read it today myself. Oops! (I'm A bit thick really )

When you said that you had tried all over Accrington and Blackburn for a repairer and had no joy, I was surprised that no one had offered to fit a new lead for you.
Anyhow you replaced the lead your self, so if it is still not working then it will probably be the heating element gone open circuit or the temperature controller stuck open.
Try a TV repair shop I'm sure they would have replaced the lead for you or even attempt to repair it for you, if they can get the parts for it.

If you send it away to a specialist chances are it would probably cost just as much to buy new rather than have it repaired.
I think these days' appliances like these and others aren't really designed to be repair. Manufacturers would prefer people to buy new, so they don't make it easy for us to have things repaired.

Re: Hair Straighteners

Didn't mean to imply that you were rude Len (To me your post wasn't rude). You made a valid point. Also why i wrote - which i did - i don't know, because i haven't fixed the lead. (Must have had a rough morning at work, and got all mixed up) Anyway found a firm in leads who will replace it for £17.68 which includes VAT and P&P. Which considering the price of straighteners isn't to bad. But will try a local TV repairer first before posting them off to Leeds. Thanks anyway.

Re: Hair Straighteners

I got two pairs of straightners and still think the GHD are the best. Anyone know where I can get them cheaper than £90?

Re: Hair Straighteners

Hi Steph the one's my daughter has are Hair Tools, which are brilliant. They weren't much cheaper than GHD, think i paid about £70 just over 12 months ago. You can buy them at Sallys Hair and Beauty, Broadway. You could always try e-bay for GHD. Sorry i can't be of much more help.

Re: Hair Straighteners

you can also try website 4yourhair.com, got mine from there, they have a good range of GHD, Hair Art and many more. P & P included in the price and you can get packages which include the straighteners and hair products.

Re: Hair Straighteners

Sort of Len, going to send them to a place in leeds to get fixed. But waiting until we go on our hols in two weeks, as my daughter can't live without them but she is not taking them on hols with her. (She says it's pointless as the humidity will just curl her hair again.)
