I was goin to do it over the telephone this time and if all went well online next time. I kept forgetting though and it's too late now because the Tax disc wont arrive in time. My own fault really

Re: Post Office

When I renewed mine online, it was the day before my tax disc was due to run out, it came in the post a few days later, you get quoted a reference number when you do it on-line so that if you get stopped you just need to quote it.

Thanks for the insight to how the online renewal works, I'll nip into town in the morning, if the queue is huge, then I will do it online. Thanks

DVLC do advise in the paperwork that by applying on line or over the telephone, it's wise to apply 5 working days or so before due date. It would just be my luck to get my car towed then crushed with the questions being asked at a later date. I seen them telly programmes too

Nowt to do with them, The only person who can do anything is plod doing you for failure to display. If you put the reference number on a piece of paper in it place they can check there and then. Personally I'd like to see us getting an insurance disk as well.

I agree wholeheartedly with that Ian, in fact I consider an Insurance Disc should have priority over a Tax Disc.

In Italy the insurance document has to be displayed in the windscreen.
Perhaps, in time, this regulation will be extended throughout all EEC countries.
