I'm racking me brains trying to think of one other teacher who used to scare the living daylights out of me, think he taught woodwork but we had him for a form teacher - used to throw his board duster at you like a weapon! Got it - Mr Riding (or 'Neddy' as we affectionately called him :) )

Neddy riding he was a nasty piece of work horrible spittle from around his big rubber lips but yet he gained respect sadly missing from today IMHO

Neddy used to terrorise most of us non woodworking types unlike misters booth, day and company, neddy used whatever he held at the time for dishing out corporal punishment (3 by 2)? yes those where the days,
as a rider to this though,
I worked many years later with a lad who had been taught by him at woodnook and he claimed he was a great teacher

derek day was a brilliant teacher....he was a student teacher at St James school as was then (near Library) teaching my mother. Also loved being taught by Mr Green (English) - he was a really witty man. Funilly enough, those two were mates and used to eat their lunch together in the Cocker building - when it first opened in 1974 or so.

Hey, why donīt we see if any of us ex-crisīs pupils are interested enough to make a reunion....what do you think?????

Yeah I remember Miss Brown (little lady with big boobs!) - she was very into her music. Unfortunately, I wasnīt. Did like needlework though...we had grumpy old lady mrs Livesey and then we got Mrs Grundy (I think was her name) - she was a bit better. I liked that Cocker building when it first opened as you got a choice of meals - before that (in the old dining area) we used to have to eat at tables of eight with the meal in steel containers - to be dished out by a monitor. I remember Mr Jolleys was there most days to say grace before lunch began ......now there was a man that scared the hell out of me, far worse than Neddy!! Mr Walker was a sweety though.

I wasnīt taught by Mrs Ginn but remember her - bit of a stickler and Mr Boardman was a bearded grump-box. I can just imagine him in France with his jesus creepers on!! and Taggy you are right - Walter Booth was the science teacher, he died maybe 24yrs ago of cancer. Mr Otter was my maths teacher - he and his wife had two little girls and they were killed in a car crash around 1974 time - really sad. Then I had Mr Savage and eventually Mr Day - who was by far the best teacher. I also remember "sausage legs" but she never taught me -she was in charge of the library I remember. Mrs Illich was a bit of a one....always liked the lads and gave the girls a really hard time....she was always muching around in sling-backs and her cardigans over her shoulders...bit of a Diva back in those days!

I live in Vilamoura, Algarve. Know Huelva quite well....we go shopping at Cote Inglęs from time to time - always get lost in the centre, every single time we go!!! Yeah, I left in 76 but I bet you Jolleys was still the headmaster back in your days. Probably Mr Day and Mr Green were there too. Do you work in Spain? I am running an interior decoration business (have done so for the last 13yrs) but it is v.quiet with this recession and I doubt this year is going to be a good one. Only people I see making money down here right now are supermarkets and security alarm companies.
