My mother was a Hindle, which is a very common name. My grandfather george and his brother Joe went to Mass in 1908. Jowe stayed and I have reklatives there. 25 Nuttall st does not ring bells with me. When did your folks go to USA? Have you contacted Atarah on the AccyWeb site - she will trry to help. Thanks. Atarah was the first to respond to my original posting. She mentioned the Dobson surname at the time, bue I have not yet encountered any sources that independently confrim such a link. Perhaps down the road...

My Hindle ancestors immigrated to the US approximately 1866 (+/- years per birth locations of siblings with 1 in Accrington and the next in PA). Records are kind of loose, but I have a reference to C. Hindle and wife on the steamer "Java" leaving Liverpool and arriving in NY on March 8, 1866 with intention of emigrating from England to US. They would likely have been traveling with their several children. I assume from the fact that nobody under 20 is listed on that page that the ship's manifest did not list children/ This is my most compelling evidence, though I don't have confirmation documents from each side.

Let me know if you get a strong lead on a tie between us.

View of the area your family lived in, although this is approx 100 years after they have emigrated. Not the best photo, but there are not many left of that area. The building in the midst of being demolished was the STAR INN. Not sure which side of Nuttall Street your family would have been on, but as a general rule, as you walk away from a town centre, the houses on your right hand side are even numbered and the ones on the left are odd numbers, so going off that they should have been on the left, will see if I can find any more photos.

I checked the Nuttal St thing as I was driving past this morning. The lowest number standing is now 39, thats the house directly across from the Brittania Pub. 25 would presumably have been where the council building is now.
