Re: Moorhead High School
Hi all,
Stumbled across this site! Yes, I left Moorhead in 84. In fact, I am sure Lindsay Ormerod was in one or two of my classes. Here are a couple of other teachers I remember. Madame Smith (French) how could anyone forget her! Miss Goodyear (Music), went to Johannesberg, I think, she was gorgeous! I also remember that awful day the chap got struck by lightening and his mate was blinded for a few weeks too. Mr Cauldwell, how could I forget him? I remember his first day about 1980. He used to pick on Safraz Ali and grab his ears then bang his head on the blackboard! All for a laugh of course! Bet he doesn't get away with that now. Left Accy in 89/90. Good to see this site. Re: Moorhead High School
I remember it was Gary Robinson and Mark Newson was injured. I can remember a few people being interviewed in hospital beds on News at Ten!!! Never sprinted so fast that day across the plateau. Bad memories and a sad sad day. Was a 1st year when it happened and Mr Clayton taught us History straight after, then we all had to go in the main hall for our parents to pick us up (if they could contact them) I had to walk home..
|
Re: Moorhead High School
I was also a first year. Was in Chemistry with Mr Edwards straight after it happened. I remember having to wait in the hall afterwards but I also had to walk home because my parents were working. I ran all the way home but wasn't the only one...
|
Re: Moorhead High School
What year did it happen? I'm sure my Aunty Kelma has told me the story and said that she was at Moorhead at the time, I think she left in '81 or '82.
|
Re: Moorhead High School
It was the beginning of June 1980.

There was mrs ainsworth, mr mchale, mr cauldwell (ie chucklebrother thru and thru) mr ormerod (rest in peace sir) quite a few and i must say i hated it at the time but id give anything to go back now!!:D

lmao don't ever let Mrs Jones catch you saying that! The only 2 teachers to strike the fear of God in me was Jonesy and Clayton !! (Tinks shudders at the thought :o ) |
Re: Moorhead High School
I had Mrs Jones for History, she was scary wasn't she, always did my homework for her, once marched me into her office to remove my eyeliner!
|
Re: Moorhead High School
Jonsey brought the best (love of history) and the worst (footy boots in her office) in me. I got fine with Clayton because of running cross counntry and History. Cauldwell even told my neice about how I unlocked a cupboard my way (kicked it in).

lmao! I got marched in and a weeks worth of detentions because this numpty walked past a certain PE teachers house in full school uniform on my way to town whacking it  ! |
Re: Moorhead High School
I too thought Jonesy was a good teacher, I saw her a couple of months ago (not to talk to) she doesn't look half as scary now.
|
Re: Moorhead High School
Could that've been Mr Windles? I never whacked a full day, occasionally missed the last lesson and often games!

|
Re: Moorhead High School
I wonder what happened to my studdied belt after windle took it off me? Mind you he was fond of using trainers for punishment.
|
Re: Moorhead High School
I didn't get anything like that, I think corporal punishment had just been banned, not that I was that bad that I deserved that anyway.
|
Re: Moorhead High School
Corparel punishment was banned in 83 I had a few run ins there managed to cop it in the first year for fighting in the quad.
|
Re: Moorhead High School
You sound like you were quite naughty Spuggie, was that your nick name at school as well?
|
Re: Moorhead High School
Mr Windle now owns the papershop on the main road near hollins,baxenden..Mrs Jones still lives on Barnfield St near Accy college saw her for the first time since school a few months ago(and I left in 88).She was scary at school, old "tin tit"lol.God knows who started that ridiculous nickname.

Re: Moorhead High School
Mr Williamson Mr Williamson Mr Williamson....Hmmmm.... When i hear that Ba%!rds name i get mad inside..... Didnt he used to make kids kneal on pencils, Thats right he did! I saw that once, but it never happened to me. He was always nasty towards me, one day he was shouting at me because i couldnt draw and i said something and he shouted "dont back chat to me" and picked me up by the ear. All this because i CANT DRAW. Im surprised i havent heard any stories about him getting the holy crap beat out of him because that guy deserves it bigtime.
Not all days was bad at that school though. Mr mchale and Mr dyson was my favourite teachers, so down to earth. I was there 89-94 and if anybody reading was there then they may remember an english teacher called miss elliot. She was an extremely nice person( plus she let me listen to walkman in class ), Some lads would mess about in her class and say obsenities to her. Eventually she left work at moorhead i think it was in 94. I felt sorry for her, such a nice person brought to tears every day by stupid kids. Does anybody remember mrs cruise...Man she was EVIL she made us write lines for 2 years in music class because of 2 idiots( i forgot who )....she used to get them all and tear them up in front of your eyes.....now thats education for you!! |
Re: Moorhead High School
Mr Williamson once had a go at me, we were queuing to go into his class and he shouted for us all to be quiet, well I'd just been told a real funny joke and cracked up laughing, he went mad but the more he shouted the more I laughed, just couldn't stop, cant remember but think I was given det!:D
|
Re: Moorhead High School
Mr Williamson was and probably still is a pompous 'porno king' looking prat! I couldn't draw either so I got his greif for months too, until parents evening infact ........... my mum has a vicious tongue ;)
|
Re: Moorhead High School
I wish I had hit Williamson with the salt cellar maybe he would have eased of. He was just a bully and managed to get away with it the bass!
|
Re: Moorhead High School
its never too late....I have wrote a email of complaint against him you should too....everbody should he bullys children and that is not cool
|
Re: Moorhead High School
It was a long time ago rob
|
Re: Moorhead High School
how long for you :) 14 years for me. anyway if he is still abusing his power as a teacher IF then it doesnt matter how long ago it was does it? I dont want another kid to feel like i did. I went to school with some lads that could of beat the hell out of him even at that age but he didnt pick on them.....
Were talking he made one lad KNEEL on pencils....That man should not be teaching full stop. |
Re: Moorhead High School
weird how this thread made me remember about that...DAMN i wish i had told my dad about him
|
Re: Moorhead High School
19 YEARS AND STILL REGRET THE MISS. hEAD IN PTHE POTTERY SLURRY BIN AND COVERD IN WATER WAS HIS ACTION TO ME TALKING IN CLASS.

Re: Moorhead High School
Mr Williamson(i will chew gum all the time)A**hole.Mr Jorden was ok.Hey,I saw Mrs Jones today on Nuttall Street. Can't believe she used to scare the hell out of me,lol.Well at least until I threw a snowball right at her.I think she moulded herself off Thatcher(Tin tits n iron balls).
|
Re: Moorhead High School
I too went to moorhead, until being asked to kindly leave in the second year, and i can honestly say they were all bas****d`s, robinson (history) especially the guy used to beat me every lesson, turned into a personal war beat me for not doing homework, didnt do homework out of principal and took another beating, i can honestly say now that i am all "growed up" (supposedly) that the majority of teachers at that school in the early eighties did the same thing now they would put the iraqi war crimes trials to shame, that said I did have some good laughs with mates, every monday and tuesday my name would be read out in the "debt book", I once asked Simpkins the guy in charge of detention "why dont you just give me a season ticket and have done with it"?, his gobsmacked answer was to give me 3 more detentions, 3 more i didnt bother going to.
the only thing that school taught me was how to rebel more |
Re: Moorhead High School
And i thought I had problems with detention and certain teachers. Seems the same names keep cropping up again and again. :(
|
Re: Moorhead High School
Mr White the music teacher was a total sleaze mind you I didn’t have to put up with him as I got booted out of his lessons and had the privilege of doing extra study outside Mrs Jones office. The same happened for laughing my head off (at Gaz and Tash) in Madame Smiths French class. Strange thing happened though; I passed my French oral exam!!!!!!! Perhaps I just learnt how to laugh in French!:D
|
Re: Moorhead High School
remember mr jordan tinks..me and you stood in the dinner Q and he had a hard on...i think we laughed about that for the rest of the day, and what about stinky mr littler, always clapping his hands when he spoke,mr Bolton jumping outta his skin everytime one of us spoke...ah those where the days
|
Re: Moorhead High School

Re: Moorhead High School
Wow, feels so long since I left Moorhead, yet I only left in 2000 ^_^.
It was a good school when I first started going, but then it seemed to get worse (but at that time I was going through the rebellious stage then and everything seemed $@&# then). Probably didn't help having Mrs Parr for my tutor, we didn't get along that well for some reason (which had nothing to do with us disliking each other *innocent whistle*). Still I remember some funny times from then, like the time Mr. Caudwell made one lad apologise to the light switch because he'd hit it turning it on :D. Wonder if he still keeps his family of bricks? ^_^ My crowning moment (or perhaps not... I still have the video evidence of how bad it was :D) was when me and my friend rounded up some poor peop... erm, willing volunteers to act out a scene from the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy for the talent contest. Needless to say I don't think any of the students understood it (they were probably waiting for the singing and dancing groups), but at least some of the teachers understood it and got some enjoyment out of it ^_^. |
Re: Moorhead High School
I work at Moorhead, obviously think its a fab school, its improved one hell of a lot since i was at school.

looking for christopher seymour, left in 1984
Hello can anybody help me. I'm looking for my dad.
I'm looking for Christopher Seymour, a moorhead leaver in 1984. He was tall with blonde hair as far as I know and I haven't seen him since I was very young and no longer remember what he looks like. I would be very grateful if nobody could actually tell me details of his whereabouts, if anyone has an old class picture of him so I have an idea of him. I'm 17 years old and I have no idea who any of my other half of family are. I really hope somebody can help me in my search. I also had someone tell me they vaguely remembered a chris seymour in the boy scouts at the age of 11 or 12. does anybody know if this is true? Please pm me or post on here. Blazey |

Mr Neville Mr Bailey, heads, which leads nicely onto Mrs Skull! Miss Edwards (swimming gala ;) ) I remember queueing endlessly at the Iccy Van,Mr Freeze`s in Summer, i remember how going in by the doors near maths corridor at Crommy building was always a ram slam! Our year was the first with the blue uniforms 1977. Miss Nevison(french) was the hottest of the teachers. I liked Mr Hartley(maths) he was my favourite teacher. Gary Robbinson how sad the whole thing was. Mr Baily was head and Mr Mason deputy when i started. Mr Sutcliffe i hated but i played golf with him about five years back and he's a nice chap. School reunions have both been fun. I hated school but looking back damn good years they where. Heres a pic for those who remeber me |
