They also do a 4.3" wide screen version as well Navigo GPS Sat Nav - UK Map, 4.3" Widescreen, Full Postcode Search ALSO plays MP3 & MP4 - Ebuyer

If you read the user comments on them both you will see you can install other software on them like TomTom

I want to get him a sat nav he could do with it for work but i cant afford an expensive one what do you reckon neil? does it have safety camera warnings on it ?

do not use the camera databas ethat comes with tomtom it is seriously lacking a lot of cmaeras and even when updated misses a lot

there is another data base which not only warns you of static speed cameras but also warns yu when you are approaching an area where they like to hide with mobile camera units

pocketgps.com have a data base which you can pay for or get of a friend or ask somone with it nicely to email it to you

:D

My car has a constantly updated database of all sites and potential sites and bleeps at me about 400yds and 200 yds and if I'm *cough* over the limit it bleeps louder and louder till I slow down. :D

plus if I press a button thats hidden I get a proper 'Human' who asks where I'd like to go and teh car is then downloaded with directions, if teh traffic is crap they automagically redirect me round it. Also If I need to order flowers, book a hotel etc they will do all that for me as well. :D

Now thats what I call sat nav.... :D

my satnav will automaticly take over any conversations with the police if pulled over and get you out of a ticket, will spray over yellow lines so you can park where you like( spraying over white zigzags is an optional extra ),it will change your tyre if you get a puncture, it will alert you if a dogging site is fully occupied and re-route you to another less busy location, watch your kids while you go shopping and will even wipe your arse and alert you if you have left the toilet seat in the upright position

not bad for £20 at lidel

may as well mention that if you have a nokia n95 or some other phones with built in gps recievers you can easily obtain tomtom software for it and run sat nav from your phone for free

with nokia n95's you do need the latest phone software installed on it for teh gps to work properly so if your wondering why your gps is poop on yor nokia n95 thats probably teh reason why( it needs updating)

Posted via Mobile Devicethe 'free' TomTom would of corsae be a dodgy version.

The last time i checked you also needed to run some extra software for TT to use the internal GPS but it is a fair while since i last checked so maybe accyman can confirm.

It runs on most Nokia N and E series phones and is not expensive if you prefer to run legit software

I bought the navigo sat nav from ebuyer and had to send it back for a refund it didnt work! well it worked but it had no voice, if you wanted to know where to go you had to look at the nav, poop so i bought a navman s50 3d £10 dearer from morrisons.

I still use my Navigo almost daily. It has tomtom on it though as I prefer it.

legit tomtom will run without secondary software

not so legit tomtom requires you to open another application first which comes with the tomtom bundle should you find it, you can the add your own camera database and voices as you wish

plenty of forums out there that will inform people of how to do it it so i aint lol

google is your friend dont be affraid to use it :D

every person i know with a n95 has tomtom on it and they are quite happy with it especially when its 200 quid if not more cheaper

i have a tomtom unit so dont need it on my phone but if it ever broke i wouldnt buy another when there are now so many alternative options that are just as good

tomtom now have slideshows on tehir units so that you can look at pictures whiel you drive - talk about a bad idea lol

Re: £50 - Cheapest Sat Nav in the UK?

Fair do's if they have made it work fie with the internal GPS unit. last time I looked it wouldn't and you needed to use a little deamon that would present itself as a BT GPS unit internally. TomTom themselves could not supply details of when it would be fixed at the time. the deamon was not a 'hack' to use dodgy software, only to make the legit stuff work with the internal GPS unit.

I have an external BT GPS anyway ( which is more convienient in a car as you can position it for better reception. cars with heated windscreens block GPS signals so your phone would struggle to get a lock. ) so it was always a moot point for me

The Navigo has a very sensitive GPS and works fine next to my heated windscreen. It even works inside sat next to the front window which my Garmin one won't do. Can't remember if the N95 works inside the front window.
