Re: Pub ??

you'd think there would be a rule to say pubs in the same locality would not be able to have the same name!!!

Re: Pub ??

Maybe one of them is the head office, and the other is just a satellite branch...

Re: Pub ??

do they have diff closing times so that you can have last orders at one then run to next and get last orders again???

Re: Pub ??

It's not the first time a pub has been renamed following a lick of paint. I refuse in principle to dispose of my hard-earned coin in such establishments, for the name change gimmick alone usually indicates a down market move to attract the local riff-raff to whatever the latest drinking fad happens to be

Particularly saddening is the case of the Printer's Arms in Ossy; a lovely mid-georgian pub whose name indicates it's original function has a house of refreshment for the hard-grafting calico printers from the nearby Moscow Mill.

As for the George (Last Orders MkII), you won't be seeing me there either.

God help us all should a Wetherspoons pub ever be licensed to open it's obnoxious doors in Accy.

l used to like popping in The Queen's Head in Chelsea when l was in London.

l always found it very warm and welcoming, and it's quite refined as there is no spitting allowed.

Thet are indeed a chain of pubs, all called Last Orders, think they are up to about 20 now around the North West. They don't do food but the draught beers are very cheap. The same can't be said for spirits and wine though.

staggeringman 12-05-2005 17:55
