WELL what happend ???
 

Sometime ago this site had a BIG debate about the Arndale CLOCK so what has happend ? as far as i can see NOTHING ?

The last we heard was hat the clock was in pieces and in storage in the Arndale. I seem to recall that the Arndale company had passed on ownership to HBC. I'm quite sure that repair and re-erection costs would be somwhat smaller than the intended spend on the Panopticon (whatever has happened to that?)

I suppose if a new bus station was ever built ( again, whatever happened to that plan) then a site could be found there.

perhaps it would be a good thing if any PLAN of HBC stays hidden away lol some of the ones that surfaced leave a lot to be desired e.g. scaitcliffe fountain.

Though we did kick up a fuss about it and got the matter onto the front page of the Observer, we obviously didn't kick up enough of a fuss to get it onto the Idiot-in-Chief's agenda. I think the real stumbling block is that there actually isn't anywhere else in Accrington with the necessary space to accomodate it.

Lets hope it does not end up like Church's steam engine, with the clock sickle plonked in a bit of concrete outside Scaitcliffe House.

What about putting it in the old Arcade ? it would fit there A-B
I think i will do a bit of nosying about and see what i can find out hehe
and see what there plans are for it

The old Arcade is privately owned. I don't think the owners would take too kindly to having the clock dumped on them, it might get in the way of the "To Let" signs.

I'm sorry I don't know anything about the whereabouts of the clock. I also think it's a shame that the clock has gone. I'll ask around next week and see if I can find out anything.

the clock should me melted down into scrap it was a horrendous piece of crap anyway

I don't want to worry anyone unduly but I think we found the Arndale clock on a roundabout in Monastir! :D

The only place that the clock would really not seem out of place is Ossy Mills, in my opinion.

Ossy Mills is the only decent tourist attraction in our borough that pulls the crowds in.
