Anyone heard from the NHS dentists?
Has anyone who registered earlier this year to go with the new NHS dentists at Accy Vic heard anything? I rang them the other day and was told that all registration forms had been allocated and it was up to the dentists to ring us now. I just wondered if anyone knew anything further as I could do with being seen soon. Thanks!

Anyway, I got a letter this morning saying that they had passed my details onto the nearest NHS dentist and we should hear something in the next SIX MONTHS (?!). Funnily enough there was a letter for my partner and one for my son and that was it...none for me! I wonder if I am on their lists or not! |

Re: Anyone heard from the NHS dentists?
On the subject of NHS Dentistry, I was informed the other day by an Asian work colleague that she pays £600 return Air fare to Pakistan, visits friends for a week or so,pays around £10 to get her teeth fixed up, then pays a further £10 for new specs then flies back here to England.
Apparently we too could avail ourselves of this service .When I think Iv'e spent hundreds on teeth alone, I wonder what the hell is wrong with the NHS. |
Re: Anyone heard from the NHS dentists?
I wish I'd had a dental appointment in New Zealand, as it is cheaper than here. A colleague of mine always gets her new specs on holiday. She got 2 lovely pairs of glasses at an opticians in Cyprus last year for half the price we pay here. Not only did the optician do a couple of fittings and adjustments to the glasses because he wasn't happy with them, but he personally delivered them to our hotel so that she could have them in time for her relatives wedding. How's that for service....:)

Re: Anyone heard from the NHS dentists?
best option I've heard is a friend who goes out on hols to india every year and gets all her teeth done. She's had crown and bridge work and they've done a damn good job too for the cost of 1 filling here, yep thats 1 filling!!! Amazing isn;t it

Re: Anyone heard from the NHS dentists?
NHS dentists are such a joke no matter where you go. I haven't had my own dentist for ages

Re: Anyone heard from the NHS dentists?
NHS Dentists?
Aren’t they related to the Dodo? |
Re: Anyone heard from the NHS dentists?
the thing that i find most disgusting is that even if a person has some savings and can raise the money to pay for a private dentist they cant claim back the percentage that the nhs would have paid anyway
it shouldnt matter where you get the work done you should always be able to claim back what the nhs should be paying after all thats why we pay national insurance |

Re: Anyone heard from the NHS dentists?
I know its hard and the NHS should be put to task for its incompetence but as I sit here with a gob that is numb having just returned from the dentist, you know the Americans love thier dentist, I pay $117 every 2 weeks for health (inc dental) insurance, every vist you co pay $50, I had to have a deep cleaning, you know us Brits only go when we need too. Anyhoo the cost of the deep clean was $970 of which I paid $230, yes even with insurance I paid 230 bucks for a deep cleaning which the dental assistant/ Hygeneist does if you convert it at 2 to the pound thats 115 quid to get your teeth cleaned, stick with NHS it will be worth the wait.

Re: Anyone heard from the NHS dentists?
I think they have looked at my form and seen that I have not been seen for 40 years and they think it won't matter if I wait another 40.
Janet, I am definitely not brave enough to phone up and ask what is going on......I filled the form in.....now I'll just wait! Glad you got a pleasant dentist though. |

Re: Anyone heard from the NHS dentists?
Is this the only NHS dentist in Accy? if so its a poor do.
|
Re: Anyone heard from the NHS dentists?
Well at least there is a NHS dentist in Accy so many are turning private that 10,000 yes 10,000 have been de-registered in Aberdeenshire. Its all going to the dogs paying for an NHS service you cannot get. Where do we go from here? Over to France and have it done on an E11?
|
Re: Anyone heard from the NHS dentists?
My dentist went private and i had a choice i either stayed with him and paid or try and find another dentist that would take me on. I stayed with him and pay so much a month. I do get my moneys worth though because i go every 3 months.

Re: Anyone heard from the NHS dentists?
just reviving this yet again.....................i rang the number on the letter that quite a few of us got earlier this year & which stated "if you have not heard from a dentist within 3 months, please ring this number " the reply i got ..........when they finally answered was " all forms have been sent out to the dentists in the area," "if you havn't heard yet ......ring N.H.S. DIRECT" i ask you, well margret , i think thats lets us out of going to the dentists he he he he ............don't you?
|
Re: Anyone heard from the NHS dentists?
Mez, I think you are right.... but I am not stirring the pot......they know where I am if they want to check out my fangs.......after all I haven't been for 40 years so another one or two won't make much difference.
