London Underground explosions
It sounds like there have been at least 5 explosions/power surges on the London Underground.
Just watching it on Sky at the mo. At first it was one, then two but now they say five incidents. Someone who was involved in the Aldgate Station "incident" is saying there was a big hole in the side of the train and "bits of train" all over the place. It sounds like it could be worse than first reports. This man is talking about "limbs" lying around too. All the underground seems to have been closed down now. |
Re: London Underground explosions
Five explosions on the underground and at least one bus in Russel Square with roof blown off according to a reporter which police have refused to confirm!
Now worried about our London members. Hope they post and let us know. |
Re: London Underground explosions
I'm OK. I'm 300yds up from Liverpool street station. It's mayhem outside.

Re: London Underground explosions
Thank goodness the two of you are OK Tealeaf & Pendy - I was afraid to ask and didn't want to put my thoughts into words.
It sounds awful on the news although at first they were trying to say it was an accidental incident it sounds like well planned terrorism and that is frightening. |
Re: London Underground explosions
its on all the news
|
Re: London Underground explosions
There's more news coming in about explosions on other buses.
Rail unions have reported one explosive device found on the underground. This is awful. |
Re: London Underground explosions
still conflicting reports, but sounds as though it is a very well planned terrorist incident
|
Re: London Underground explosions
reports of another bomb nr euston station not exploded
|
Re: London Underground explosions
It's going from bad to worse with the reports.
Obviously well-timed to disrupt the transport systems in London but not a thought for the people injured or even killed in the processs. |

Horror
I was late leaving home this morning, so looked for a cab. None free, of course. I wondered why lots of people were walking, rang the office, and was told that the tube had gone down. So, walked to the bus stop and waited. At about 9:45 there was an enormous bang. We all looked at one another and said "That was a bomb". The bus came up, we got on, and sat there because the Inspector was unsure about letting it go, as he was getting various messages on his radio. After about 15 minutes or so, a British Transport policeman came running round the corner, shouting "Get off the bus, quick". As you can imagine, we did, quick. I said to him "Where should we go?" His answer was "I don't know, nowhere is safe." So, I came home. As I walked up Woburn Place I could see a bus with its roof blown off, debris and appalling damage. It is literally just around the corner. Two hours on, the emergency services are still dealing with casualties. 20 fatalities have been confirmed so far from the various incidents. I am just about to offer coffee to the poor souls who are having to deal with the carnage. My son is safe, he walked to the office from Kings Cross, thankfully before the reported bomb there went off.
I am very shaky, but thankfully okay. |
Re: London Underground explosions
Just to let you know Pendy, tealeaf you may be far away but our thoughts are with you.
|
Re: London Underground explosions
this is awful, my thoughts go out to all down in London. Just come on radio 22 now confirmed dead but I hate to think about all those who were in the middle of blast as they will not be accounted for, it's just too awful to contemplate the distruction
|

|
Re: London Underground explosions
I'll second that cashman, the relief for you about your son must be enormous
|
Re: London Underground explosions
Thanks for your post Pendy. Just watching it here on TV feeling so helpless. You were so lucky. I just keep saying thank goodness everyone i know is OK but there are still all those poor people injured and those whio have lost loved ones. I cannot put into words my feelings about this.
|
Re: London Underground explosions
I'm at work relying on updates on the radio and internet, I know what you mean about feeling helpless willow. I am also glad to hear fellow members from london are ok then instantly feel guilty for that relief when there are so many others injured, killed or unaccounted for.

Re: London Underground explosions
They're saying it could be suicide bombers.
|
Re: London Underground explosions
could be... i think it'll be something similar to what they did with the madrid bombings.
apparently some website has been unearthed claiming responsibility for this - some al qaeda cell in europe. |
Re: London Underground explosions
I just cannot understand how anyone can do something like this. What goes on in their heads?
|
Re: London Underground explosions
Relieved to see accyweb members and their families are safe.
I've had it on the news all morning it looks horrific! |
Re: London Underground explosions
thay will need BLOOD , befor long for the injured , im of to the hospital to GIVE some
|
Re: London Underground explosions
Thank God you're all safe & well. The b*****d's who did this planned it well. They knew there would be many people around & have done it to maximise the effect. It's bad enough and my heart goes out to the families of the dead But how much worse would it have been had it been yesterday with all those people waiting for the Olympic result.
|
Re: London Underground explosions
apparently they've shut the fone networks down in london simply cause they dont want any more bombs going off via text msgs
|
Re: London Underground explosions
they've deffo done it to time it with g8 in scotland.
with both blair and livingstone away OMG i just seen this on another website... http://www.israelnn.com/news.php3?id=85346 Report: Israel Was Warned Ahead of First Blast 13:30 Jul 07, '05 / 30 Sivan 5765 (IsraelNN.com) Army Radio quoting unconfirmed reliable sources reported a short time ago that Scotland Yard had intelligence warnings of the attacks a short time before they occurred. The Israeli Embassy in London was notified in advance, resulting in Finance Minister Binyamin Netanyahu remaining in his hotel room rather than make his way to the hotel adjacent to the site of the first explosion, a Liverpool Street train station, where he was to address and economic summit. At present, train and bus service in London have been suspended following the series of attacks. No terrorist organization has claimed responsibility at this time. Israeli officials stress the advanced Scotland Yard warning does not in any way indicate Israel was the target in the series of apparent terror attacks. |
Re: London Underground explosions
this is absoulutly terrible but its good to see that the emergancies services and police etc are as prepared as they possibly could be and that the plans that they have had in place seem to be working regarding shuting down phone network, and using buses as temporary places to treat the injured.
How could somebody do this its discraceful and then to own up to it as it seem this group have http://www.sky.com/skynews/article/0...188265,00.html |
Re: London Underground explosions
mail is reporting it as well
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/liv...n_page_id=1770 British police told the Israeli Embassy in London minutes before Thursday's explosions they had received warnings of possible terror attacks in the city, a senior Israeli official said. Israel was holding an economic conference near the scene of one of the explosions. Israeli Finance Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was supposed to attend, but the attacks occurred before he arrived. Just before the blasts, Scotland Yard called the security officer at the Israeli Embassy and said warnings of possible attacks had been received, the official said. He did not say whether British police made any link to the economic conference. |
Re: London Underground explosions
minutes before!!! what could anyone do in minutes they just do this to install the first moments of panick within the authorities
Sick |
Re: London Underground explosions
it says they told the embassy minutes before
not that they found out minutes before |
Re: London Underground explosions
Glad to hear that the Accyweb members are safe and accounted for.
I hope they catch the barbarous cowardly attackers who did this. In the meantime my thoughts are with those whose friends and family have been hurt in this dastardly bombing. |
Re: London Underground explosions
apparently they've also evacuated uxbridge tube station too according to another site i'm on
|
Re: London Underground explosions
OK guys....just to give you the latest update from here.
I am at the junction of Commercial St & Shoreditch High St: the former leads to Aldgate (2 dead latest) and the latter to Liverpool St. To the east of this is the Royal London Hospital. Commercial St is sealed off, so all the ambulances are detouring right outside my window to get to the Royal. It's been constant sirens for the last 4 hours. The tube is closed, the buses are empty and returning to base. Mobiles are backin operation, but the service is scanty. A lot of buisnesses have shut down and told their people to gt home, any way how,and lots are wlking I just popped briefly inthe pub round the corner -it was packed. Everyone watching the news. There are all sorts of rumours flying around, but those of you with a telly on will probably have a better idea of what's happened than I have. It' raining heavily, whichyou might not see on t'telly. I'll keepyou informed of what I know here. |

Fears that Muslims may be become the victims of reprisals following today's London bombings have prompted a warning for them to stay indoors. Massoud Shadjareh, chairman of the Islamic Human Rights Commission, appealed for calm and condemned the bombings. He said: "The Islamic Human Rights Commission utterly condemns this attack, but now we appeal that there should be no further victims as a result of reprisals." There was no immediate confirmation of who was responsible for the attacks, but a claim was made on the Al-Qal'ah [Fortress] internet site, by a group calling itself the Secret Organisation Group of Al-Qa'ida of Jihad Organisation in Europe. Mr Shadjareh said some members of the Muslim community suffered a backlash following the September 11 2001 terror attacks in the United States, and the Madrid train bombing in March 2004. He said he was "very concerned about a backlash" and called on British Muslims to "remain vigilant and calm and stay indoors". He said: "IHRC is advising Muslims not to travel or go out unless necessary, and is particularly concerned that women should not go out alone in this climate. "In the event of being attacked, IHRC urges victims not to retaliate and to report the matter to the police and appropriate authorities." |

Re: London Underground explosions
This is the latest:
Looking out my window , there are masses of people walking north back home. I can't see any buses at all now, but the sirens on the police and ambulance vehicles are still going strong as they head towards the Royal Hospital There are huge areas of the city now cordoned off, including the area immeadily to the south-east of where I sit and then there is another massive cordon to the west. Apparently, they are "scenes of crimes". Normally, I only have a half hour walk home or a bus, but this may now be an hour. Morale is high; the pub was packed at lunchtime. The anger has yet to begin. |

Re: London Underground explosions
I haven't seen the news yet as I have only just got out of bed. I am so glad that Pendy and Tealeaf are ok. If chaos such as this can be caused on a normal day, then think of the chaos that these people could cause during a big event, ie, the Olympics. It is high time that our do-gooders stopped harping on about the human rights of these terrorists and people who incite violence, and that our laws punish people properly.

Ive been in bed most of today watching the news. Its so terrible. My heartfelt sympathies go out to all who are hurt and have been killed.

Re: London Underground explosions
Thank god our friends are safe and well, our thoughts have to go out though to the people dead and injured , and to their families. These people were just going about their everyday lives and these murdering extremists choose to do this. I have been quiet up to now cause i feel sick after being very involved in the IRA bombs in Manchester.a few years ago. I saw the devastation and the heartache it caused and still can,t come to terms with it . Pendy Tealeaf and Cashies son thank god your OK . Ian.

Re: London Underground explosions
It's just a barbaric act, total bast**ds. Glad to hear all our members are safe. My heart goes out to all.
|
Re: London Underground explosions
The people who did this aren't animals.......animals do not kill and maim for fun......the people
who committed these atrocities are cowardly barbaric people...and if they should ever be found...or when they are found they should be shot..........at least 33 people are dead tonight because of them. 33 families are grieving when they should not be. A curse on the bombers. |
Re: London Underground explosions
I just hope that the so called protesters, who yesterday were ripping up pavements to throw at the police in Scotland , some of whom appeared to be middle aged well dresssed women, have the decency to halt their 'protest' in the light of the tragic atrocoties seen in London today.
Today we should be pround and thankful for ther men and women of the emergency services. |
Re: London Underground explosions
The official death toll is now listed as 37: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4661059.stm
Is there anything we can do to stop these atrocities happening? As the IRA were reputed to have said, "You have to be lucky every day. We only have to be lucky once." |
Re: London Underground explosions
A very sad day for our country...sadly, I don't think the hooligans in Scotland will have the decency to call off their protests...and i'm sure there'll be some idiots defacing mosques and the like...fortunately, they don't represent the spirit of the British people...a spirit which was shown in the calm and determination of those on the streets of London.

Re: London Underground explosions
London was my home for seven years and I am very fond of the place. I was there during part of the IRA bombing campaign and so can empathise with what many Londoners must be feeling tonight.
A more striking contrast with the patriotic euphoria of yesterday is hard to imagine. but London and Britain have been down this well worn and sorry path before. I know that when the tears have all been shed and the damage put right, London will dust itself off and carry on as before, as though nothing untoward had happened. There is comfort in that. The current crop of terrorists will make as much impression on Londoners as their predecessors the IRA and Hitler did, which is to say hardly any at all. I am relieved that, though they were close to todays events, Pendy and Tealeaf are safe and well. I grieve for those who lost their lives this morning, what a terrible, shameful waste of life. I do not care how oppressed, marginalised or disenfranchised the perpetrators of this crime against humanity imagine themselves to be, there is not one iota of justification for an act of such callous and calculated evil. May God forgive them, if he can then he is better than me, because I cannot! I spit on them, fling my shoes in their faces and call them less than men. They are craven cowards and pitiless murderers who dishonour their families, their countries and the name of the God they claim to fight for. I think that it is high time that our muslim brethren decided which side of the fence they are on and deliver these murderous pigs to the Police. |
Re: London Underground explosions
To prove that not all French people are despicable ingrates, the following was posted in The Times today.
"France owes so much to Britain that as a French citizen one may only express a heartfelt feeling of horror and solidarity with the British people. We stand by you as you did so often during the past century. Thierry Tuot, Paris " Enough said I think. |

Re: London Underground explosions
It worries me that if the government doesn't now take sensible action against suspected terrorists the people of Britain will.
We all know about the people who have been allowed into this country who live well on the backs of British taxpayers and repay us by inciting and indoctrinating hatred and terrorism. We all know that they have been handled with kid gloves and allowed to stay. We mustn't cause any offence. Sorry, people, but when a rotten apple falls into the barrel you pick it out and despose of it. You don't wrap it in tissue paper and hope it doesn't spread its fungus. So Al Quaeda is behind the carnage? This is not men from Afghanistan who have crept in overnight armed with explosives, in a Commando raid. The perpetrators have been here for some time, maybe all their lives, have carefully planned their operations and have been taught how to do so by those whose mentality is too extreme for most right-minded folks to comprehend. The government has known of the probability for years. They have done nothing. It has to be stopped before the people of these islands take matters into their own hands and there is a bloodbath. I truly pity the many good, decent, hard working Muslims in our communities who will feel the backlash, in some quarters, from the activities of Al Quaeda. With more stringent immigration policies it would not have come to that. As it is, the BNP, an organisation I personally abhor, will capitalize on the event and indulge in their ususal rabble rousing. |
Re: London Underground explosions
The following is a statement issued by U.S. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld in the wake of the deadly terrorist attacks in London on July 7, 2005: This morning, the civilized world watched with concern as the people of London saw the face of violence and brutality. We offer our deepest sympathies to the families who have lost loved ones and to those who were wounded.
Too often the global struggle against violent extremists is discussed in a context that can distract from the harsh reality that its victims are innocent mothers and fathers, husbands and wives, and neighbors we see and work with every day. Images from London have shown faces filled with tears and shock. Such faces are sadly familiar to us here in America. However, reports from London are already telling of calm passengers, compassionate strangers, and courageous rescuers. And that too is familiar — the grace and humanity that contrasts vividly with the hatred and violence of terrorists. The London attacks have a special resonance for the American people — for America has no stronger or closer ally in the world than Great Britain. We are bound together by a common heritage, a common language and a deeply shared commitment to freedom. As President Bush indicated earlier this morning, the United States will stand with the British people with unflinching resolve. Though it is not yet known with certainty precisely who is responsible, we do know terrorists' intentions. They strike without warning and without regard for human life in the hope that they can frighten and intimidate free people — to change our way of life. And they won't stop until their side or our side has prevailed. But if these terrorists thought they could intimidate the people of a great nation, they picked the wrong people and the wrong nation. For generations, tyrants, fascists, and terrorists have sought to carry out their violent designs upon the British people only to founder upon its unrelenting shores. Before long, I suspect that those responsible for these acts will encounter British steel. Their kind of steel has an uncommon strength. It does not bend or break. The British have learned from history that this kind of evil must be confronted. It cannot be appeased. Our two countries understand well that once a people give in to terrorist's demands, whatever they are, their demands will grow. The British people are determined and resolute. And I know the people of the United States are proud to stand at their side. |
