Members in print.

For the second week in a row, we have another Accrington Web member's letter published on the letters page of the Accrington Observer. Well done Margaret Pilkington for saying what a lot of us think about the Mr. Angry column. Let's hope the next time we see you in print is when you win the writing competition you mentioned in your blog that you may enter.

I've only ever written to the paper once, again the Observer, when I was sixteen. Foolishly with hindsight, I let my name and address be published. Two death threats and a broken window at my parent's home later didn't put me off, it's just that I never felt the need again.

Every week I wonder if any of the letters I read are by any of the members on here, as I know we are a passionate lot, who aren't afraid to speak our minds.

Any other letter writters or stories out there?

Well done Mrs Pilkington. I would welcome a look at Margaret’s letter, without driving 30 odd miles. Anyone happy to scan? I would be grateful….

Gosh your a pain Doug. ;) You said the same thing last week about Gayle's letter.

I don't have the know how to scan it, but if no one else has by later tonight I will type it out for you mate, how's that for neighbourliness?

I haven't seen it yet......I really didn't think they would publish it.......although it wasn't as scathing as perhaps it could have been.

Margaret Pilkington…..you little dark horse you……….Congratulations Margaret. Mr G…..Don’t worry sir, I’ll drive over tomorrow afternoon and read it in the pub. Not all of us live close enough to nip out to the paper shop or around to Tinks for a money saving shufty……

Doug...specially for you.

Dear Sir,
With reference to the Weekly column by Mr Angry.
Has he no more grasp of the English language than to use the same old hackneyed cliche every week...?
I am sure that there arepupils in the local Secondary Schools who could write a more coherent article on topics of local or national interest.
Maybe you should boil his blood for a bit, so that he can see what it really feels like.
Isn't it time that this man was sent for a lie down in a darkened room...?
It is obvious that life is all just a bit too much for him.
He lets petty incidents and inconsequential happenings get to him.
I am sure it is against the rules of Health and Safety to make someone work when they are so stressed out.
It is high time that Mr angry was given a break, or even pensioned off......on health grounds of course.

Yours etc
Margaret Pilkington

Yes, Doug.......just a wee bit of a dark horse......though the grey is making a good attempt to get through.

I love you Mrs Pilkington, you’re a star and a real lady......if a little aggressive at times…..Thank you Margaret. You said you’d do it! I think you should do a follow up entitled. “A Lady in Broadway” recounting your fellow member’s dismay at the Broadway fiasco……

Re: Members in print.

I am glad there are some like minded people out there.
I think that column is a waste of column inches, and I do think it would be good, once the schools go back, to let maybe Year 10/11 have a bash at writing something of local or even national interest. It would make a very good English project.

As her number one fan, I would encourage anybody that enjoyed Marg's letter to read her blog.

Everyday my face aches from smiling whilst I read it.:)

Another waste of space in the Observer is where they ask someone who has been prominent in a local story or event all those idiotic questions.......What is your favourite item of underwear.....? I ask you......? Who Cares.......!
