what was the biggest spider you have seen in your house or garden and what did it look like

i forgot to say we seen one that was as big as a mug the top bit and it was black with white spots on its legs and the web was huge

Biggest one we ever had was so heavy that when it fell off the wall and hit the shelf, it made such a clunk that some things on the shelf actually shook. Was sickening, made my skin crawl at the thought of it.

It was just a browny/black colour, but it was so big u could actually make out the tiny hairs on its legs......it creeped me out big time.

We get lots of big spiders in the garden and in the house, dont mind them, I hate flies more.

not that this is the biggest spider i have seen but this one happens to be sat behind my TV and when i saw this thread i thought i would give the little fella his 15 mins of fame :D
the finger was for scale purpouses but i wasnt about to put it too close i didnt want the poor ****** thinking i was going to bite it :-) |

well i dont think this spider will be eatin flies more like mice or somethin that big anyway but i dont mind it bein there as long as its not poisanuis cant spell it sorry

well that spider is very tiny compared to this one in our attick i dont mind one that small but the one in the attick is way to big for me my bofreind loves the size wants to keep it as a pet no thank for me though if he brings that thin down then im out of the house its huge

Spiders are top ....... I watched a cracking fight the other day between a spider and a wasp that had become stuck in it's web ........ the spider won ..... I cheered :D no love lost between me and wasps ;)

I like spiders for the same reason as Rindy, they eat flies. The biggest one we ever had in our house was about 5" across. It was on my younger daughter's bedroom ceiling. My husband was away, (not that he'd have been much use as he was, shall we say, not a spider fan) so my son tried to catch it in a jar. He missed and it fell off the ceiling and my daughter insisted on sleeping with me for the rest of the week.
We get some quite pretty ones in the garden, often spotty or striped, and some big hairy ones lurking under plant pots. I just wish they ate slugs and snails. |

Ewwww Spiders.
Horrible things. I used t get Mummiboo t shift em when she was little. The ones at work are huge big n black. Skin crawling just thinking about them. |

dont know about spiders but this year we have been inundated with flies,,,we have to keep the windows and doors open because my hubby has breathing problems,,i have never seen so many flies;
i could do with borrowing that teranchila,,,lol |

I have no problems with spiders cos as its been said before they keep the fly population down! It's earwigs that give me the willies (ok no jokes pls!) :(

I've had a massive one in my living room.It was green,about 2ft in diameter.Oops sorry it was a spider plant.

well im absolutly terrified of em!!!! i cant even get them with the trainer of doom...as i cant get close enough!! i tried catchinh one in a glass once...it ran towards me...it took my dad three hours to prise me off the ceinling!!! lol

I hate spiders with my whole heart. Ugly little sneaking runts. Unfortunately my new house seems to be spider club central, so I think I'm gonna have to learn to co-exist with them. But if I ever find one in my bed, it'll be a dark day for spider-kind.
