I cant make my mind up! I like them both for different reasons - winter for the snow and dark, summer for the warmth and light.

Re: Summer V Winter
I used to love the summer and the sun. Spent every moment when the sun was out in the garden etc. When you have spent 2 years in a climate which is 32 degrees Celcius all year round, take my word for it, you want to get back in the cold as often as possible. When I first came here, some bloke asked where I was from. When I said UK he said 'How cool, you have seasons there dont you?' I miss the seasons.

Re: Summer V Winter
The only season I want is summer.
It is quite recently that I have noticed the nights drawing in. When I used to work in Reigate (about 30 odd miles from where I live) I used to look forward to the long summer evenings so that I could ride home in daylight on the motorbike. In the winter it's a different story. Have you ever tried riding home on a motorbike in the dark when its raining? Its fine until you meet a car going in the opposite direction - you can't see a thing! The warmer weather is a good excuse for not being weighed down with several layers of clothing to try and keep warm! I have suggested going to somewhere warm for christmas, but my wife is just not interested. I have asked her to compromise for just one year, and she may be considering it, but not yet... |

Re: Summer V Winter
I love summer and being warm.... I know that you can add layers in winter but I hate dark mornings and dark nights. I feel lethargic all the time in winter and wonder sometimes how I manage to drag myself into work. I know that I am a SAD sufferer and I find it easier to work nights in winter. It's brilliant going to bed on a feezing cold, wet morning, when everyone else is getting up for work.
When I was in NZ a couple of years ago, it was december. Pleasantly warm but still christmassy. It was strange to see cards with snow scenes and father christmas on them when the weather was so good. Thailand was hilarious. It was about 32 degrees, boiling hot and little Thai men were in the Bangkok department stores with full furry santa suits on. They must have been roasting....... |
Re: Summer V Winter
I love summer because it means I can take my little'un on picnics and nature rambles. It also means we are out most weekends enjoying stockcar racing meeting the many friends we have up and down the country. Winter is for resting 'recharging batteries' and seeing family. I don't really mind either it's the rain I hate and you get that no matter which season it is!

Re: Summer V Winter
I love summer and i dont mind winter because now winter is nowhere near as cold as it used to be, i still remember being a little pip and i got stuck up the cinder path for ages on my way home from school and people kept trying to get me down and i was having none of it until my hero came and got me (my dad) the whole path was frozen with ice all the way down and i was frightened to death and absolutely frozen.
The only weather i really hate is rain i cant stand the rain it makes my hair shrivel up. I love the snow and christmas and driving at night and seeing the beautiful lights down the snow covered hills. But then its only once it snows that your feet become cold. |
Re: Summer V Winter
