Re: Are Accy Magistrates Incompetent ?
Thats true Neil but lets face it if everyone did it what would happen to the honest citizens of his country.

To be honest Fireman, when someone is getting something cheap.....or they think they have scored one over the system....I don't think they really care.

Re: Are Accy Magistrates Incompetent ?
Your probably right Margaret but it doesn't make it right to commit these offences. I suppose I will never be able to change these things so I should sit on a back seat and stop worrying what others do eh.

Re: Are Accy Magistrates Incompetent ?
No it certainly isn't right......and no-one should sit back and watch law breakers get away with things...... but the legal system is in such a mess. Criminals laugh at the law.....even prison is not a deterrent because it is too easy......meals provided, a warm bed..... leisure activities. Only today, there was an article in the paper about the guy that stabbed the headmaster.....he has served 9 years for his crime. He is in an open prison and he is being let out on sort of day release, to prepare him for when he is released on licence. The family of the headmaster have lost the head of their family. There should be penal colonies on desolate islands. Prisoners should be released with just enough food for one week..... they should have to build their own shelter and forage for food. Let's see then, how many of them would buck the system.

Re: Are Accy Magistrates Incompetent ?
I agree with Fireman.Name and shame em.What can you do but imprison them.He has no liscence and he can get a vehicle anywhere.
I do not know what its like in england as i have never had a car over there. here in Germany it works like this:- The registration plates change to where you live. i.e. M is for Münich F is for Frankfurt etc When you buy a car the owner deregisters the plates. To re register the car you have to take your double card, for insurance and confirmation of where you live. This then gets checked up on to see if any offences have been committed. Car tax automatically gets taken out of your bank account. If your insurance is not paid within 2 weeks the police come round and take off your plates. Any car driving round with no plates on them is suspicious and normally gets reported. In 23 years i have never heard of any cases of this. Just a thought to change an ailing system and prevent people driving round |

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned the fact that they are currently recruiting for magistrates. Persoanlly I reckon our Rindy would make a good one. I would like to think I could do it as well but I'd probably be 'too harsh' on the poor crims to get through the selection process. As a high mileage driver(30K+/year) I have always been in favour of tax on fuel. As has been said, it would be almost impossible to avoid(Yes Neil we all know about the options with DERVs), those who use the most pay the most, those with fuel efficient cars are saving money(Watch all those company BMWs being changed for Fiestas :) ) and of course you would remove a whole layer of admin and associated costs. I also agree that putting the 3rd party cover on there would also make it fairer and remove the situation of uninsured drivers leaving innocent people with a big bill to fix their car. As has been said, if you want comp cover you pay a 'top up' premium. Pendy, If you know who you were insured with they have a legal obligation to send you a copy of your NCD. Try giving them a call and ask for proof of NCD. Your new company can apply it backdated to when you took out the policy( This happened when I had my bike accident, I had to pay full premium untill I received confirmation that it was a non fault accident and my NCD was restored. I got back just over half of my premium. I have even heard of people whose claims took over a year getting back some of teh premium of the policy that had since expired.) Ian PS this are my opinions and not that of all penguins! |
Re: Are Accy Magistrates Incompetent ?
1 man gets fined £50 for dropping litter
Another man gets fined £30 for assault What’s the answer ………………….ram your bus ticket down someone’s throat. http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/12/12_5_5.gif |
Re: Are Accy Magistrates Incompetent ?
Someone makes their own fuel for their car and runs their car off that - no fuel tax paid, just the VAT or whatever on the ingredients for the fuel. Criminal?
Someone installs solar panels to cut down on the electricity used in their home. Environmentalist? Somehow I can see the former arguing that he is merely behaving in much the same way as the latter in that he is reducing fuel consumption and the depletion of limited resources. Life is strange isn't it? |
Re: Are Accy Magistrates Incompetent ?
Another thing i forgot to mention that may be descisive reason is that its the car that is insured over here not the driver.Hence if you borrowed or you lent a car then it is automatically covered.Great for when we get visitors over here. They can use mine without me having to worry about it.
