Re: Pass The Member
Hmmm......... I've just had a rather nice pm from Doug informing me that it must be my turn. I have only just got out of bed from last nights shift, but I will rise to the challenge....:D
I was born in 1968... (I know, I can't believe it either. Especially as I don't look a day over 30..) :D My early years were spent living in Church before the move to Accy when I was 8. I attended Earnest St infant school, Hyndburn Park then Peel Park Junior schools, then Moorhead was lucky enough to get me and finish me off......My formal education, that is.. I have 3 sisters and 3 step- brothers and a dog. Together with my 2 sisters who are also in their 30's we had a reasonable, bordering on happy childhood. We never had money when we were kids, but we had good times and we had each other. My third sister came along much later. I did once take the plunge and get married, but it didn't last very long, only 2 years. I get on well with my ex hubby but couldn't live with the git. I did my own divorce, no solicitors, no help and I came away with everything I wanted for a fraction of the price that our legal profession would charge. It made me a much stronger person and I will not be intimidated or take any flack from anyone. After leaving school I did everything in my power to avoid going to college. I wanted to earn money and have a good social life and I did just that for a couple of years. Deep down I am the sort of person who values education so I stopped messing about and started my nurse training when I was 19. I loved it, made lots of new friends and learned loads. After working as a staff nurse for a few months I was accepted to do my midwifery training. I have been working as a midwife ever since. I enjoy my job but it is always busy, usually stressful and the threat of litigation hangs over us on a daily basis. I think that the country is becoming more like the US in that way, and that people have very high expectations of the childbirth experience and are often disappointed. I decided about 5 years ago that I would do a professional degree in midwifery. It is time consuming and expensive but I will have finished it by next August and I can't wait. No matter how old somebody is, they should never stop learning. I love to travel and most of my hard earned cash goes on this luxury. I consider myself very lucky to have been able to visit New Zealand, twice, and the Far East. I can't wait to go again but I do have a wish list of other places to visit so I will get cracking on that list when the degree is finished. I joined Accyweb in August 2003 and have been addicted ever since. I met my boyfriend on here and we have a brilliant time travelling, having days out and going to the theatre. When I actually get time to do anything inbetween working, studying and generally dossing around with Sparky, I like to go for a long walk.....somewhere high, with a nice view... It's all a bit boring really, so I will pass the baton to somebody interesting and nominate Pendy........... You may have to wait for her though, I think she may be in Accy this weekend.:D |
Re: Pass The Member
