It's not the offending people that's the point here - it's secrecy!

Blimey, some of our guest readers are from the secret services are they?

Perhaps the Iron Curtain didn't come down, they just moved it to Accrington.

Freedom of speech should be a right for all of us, including those in public office or the press.

Re: Big brother is watching.

Well someone took the time to print off criticisms of Peter Britcliffe and I was damning at times ;) and circulate them around Scaitcliffe Towers [can I say that??] and tried to pull me on some stuff that came close to slandering the Council and breaching confidentiality. I can't slander the Council [by law] but members of this board can.

What is worrying is Scaitcliffe Towers monitoring the posts and picking up ones by a journalist and monitoring them. I presume to make sure democracy is upheld.

We all know that journalists from the Observer have been on here, one even posted under a nom de plume attacking Gayle's right to free speech, so Vitty if you read this, your freedom of speech would be a good article for your next Mr Angry column.

'It really makes my blood boil when my boss tells me what I can say, and where.......';)

The council thinks its the mightiest around and believes it should be do as I say not as I do. Next thing you know they will be trying to ban local elections because they know they will be kicked off thanks to their attitude.:(

Not a lot to say on this one other than have a look at this link

UK Big Brother Awards 2005 shortlist announced 09/06/2005
This year’s shortlist contains a mix of some of Britain’s most greedy, incompetent, invasive and manipulative mandarins and organisations.

As we know that Peter Britcliffe is undoubtedly reading this site I have a question for him - Peter, given that we know you lied about your smoking habit (you admitted in the Accy Obs that you told your Doctor it was 20 a day when really it was 40) - is there anything else you've lied about?

It seems to me that Britcliffe is hallucinating. What sort of 'baccy is he trying to give up? The wacky sort? Maybe he should'nt, because if Cameron gets elected leader of the Tories then drug abuse may well become 'de rigeur'.

Anyway, this diary is pretty pathetic & I am surprised the Observer is running with it . Have they nowt better to do? Surely the paper can find something else to fill up it's column inches with, than this cheap publicity stunt by what appears to be an increasingly desperate council leader.
