Pot calling the Kettle

The allegations are potentially devastating, an abuse of national sovereignty and of human rights: that the CIA has illegally abducted terrorist suspects in Europe, covertly used European airports for transporting terrorist suspects and has been interrogating them in secret prisons.

The controversy is dogging the US Secretary of State even before she arrives in Europe: it was on the agenda of Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the new German Foreign Minister, on his first official visit to America yesterday. On arrival he raised the matter with Kofi Annan, the United Nations Secretary- General, saying: “I presume the seriousness of these (accusations) is being recognised in Washington.”

So the USA comes and finds the terrorists, transports them from Europe, interrorgates them and then puts them in prison. I am sure thats better then letting them run around being "terrorists" and of all the countries to complain Germany!!!!!!!!!!

I am glad that the issue has been rasied at the United Nations. I believe the actions of the US govenment and CIA (assuming these reports are accurate)are disgraceful. The American's have no such right to carry out these actions whether the people they catch are terrorists or not. Not only under such circumstances could they not possibly have a fair trial but the implication of this is that one would not be needed.

America is not an Empire nor will it ever be one no matter how much they like tho think that they are.

As for Germany making these complaints what has their past got to do with anything? It was a long time ago and things have changed considerably since then. In any case, I was under the impression that the main reason for the last war was to fight for our freedom so that the european nations could be free to govern themselves as free democratic soverign nations. Surely the actions of the americans are no worse than those carried out under the Nazis!

As far as British and American actions are concerned then over the last few years they have acted equally as disgracefully as any despotic regeme they have removed.

If it does turn out to be the case then those responsible in America for these crimes should be brought to book just as anyone else would be under such circumstances.

If there are terrorists operating in Europe then it is to be done under the duristiction and law of the partiuclar host country concerned and not a despotic American organisation who by doing what they do act themselves as terrorists!

I'm laughing my socks off over this one. I know the lefties love their conspiracy theories, but this one can't be beat. A number of planes have landed for refuelling at various UK and European airports and have taken off again; normal procedure on long-haul flights, whether of a commercial service or not.

Without any evidence whatsoever, the BBC/Guardian/Daily Muslim and the Saddam Independant, along with all the Euro slime have suddenly got it into their heads that these planes are carting poor shackled & drugged suicide bombers & other terrorist scum back & forth between secret camps around the world.

Where are the photographs from inside the planes? Where are the videos of terrorist holding camps? Where are the verifiable accounts of the so-called victims of this gross injustice? The simple truth is that they don't exist; until evidence is found, this must be the biggest non-story since Elvis was rumoured to be drinking in the Stag last Christmas.

T, you don't need evidence, it's the big bad USA. B W I was mentioning Germany because of the way it treats the Turkish immigrants not because of the 2nd world war.:)

So, if the allegations are true, then in fact the USA "comes" finds "alleged terrorists" whisks them away, interrogates and imprisons them without anyone else having a clue what is going on then no it isn't better than them running around "being terrorists" because we do not have any proof that they are and Germany has every right to complain just as any other country has a right to complain about Germany doing anything underhand. The problem is that justice must not only be done but be seen to be done and things going on under cover do nobody any favours.

Please note that I said "if"

Well at least they are alledgedly doing something about the terrorists. Which is more than can be said here when we make them feel at home and safe.
