in todays telegraph.......
A 22-year-old man died and a woman was seriously injured when their speeding car went out of control as they overtook a friend's vehicle in a residential street.
Another 22-year-old man who was in the other car has been arrested by police on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, following the crash in Livesey Branch Road, Blackburn . Police said the man was killed when his Renault Clio clipped a traffic island while trying to overtake another Clio at 60mph in a 30mph zone at 8.40pm yesterday. The car careered into a parked BT van, sending both vehicles hurtling 40 feet down the road and demolishing a garden wall. The Clio then hit a parked Ford Ranger and a Peugeot 106 before coming to a halt in the driveway of a semi-detached house. Firefighters cut the man, aged 22, and a woman in her 20s free from the wreckage of the Clio. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, while the woman was today in a stable condition in Blackburn Royal Infirmary with serious head, chest and neck injuries. what a waste, why do these ppl do it? he was so young too:( |
Re: in todays telegraph.......
No sympathy from me!!! I am just thankful that this time, no innocent people were involved or injured/killed.
I would like to think that at least one young person re-evaluates his/her attitude regarding their driving after reading about this accident - - but its unlikely. Kids are immortal - 'til they die. |
Re: in todays telegraph.......
I honestly believe some people drive thinking they are playing on a computer game.
Sadly there is no restart button, when they realise they aren't. |
Re: in todays telegraph.......
If its out like up here it would be boy racers. The endanger themselves and others with their anttics and learn nothing. Its the people who are caught up innocently in this mayhem I feel sorry for.

Re: in todays telegraph.......
that 1 less a$$hole on the road endangering lives
60 in a 30 zone is pathetic , most people do a little above and slow down for speed cameras but 60 is beyond a joke that is motorway speed |
Re: in todays telegraph.......
Exactly Spug.
I don't give two hoots however people choose to live their lives, but when innocent people are put in danger because of their stupidity it's a different matter. |

Re: in todays telegraph.......
I have to say we have to also remember there is a family of the deceased that are also an innocent party in this. The saddest part of this is the crash happened close to the deceased's home and his father actually heard the crash from his home! It's been a very morbid place at work today as the father used to work at my company :(

Will anybody learn from it? I very much doubt it. Nobody ever thinks it will happen to them. I used to work with someone who went out and got drunk every Thursday night, either drowning his sorrows because his 5-a-side team lost or celebrating because they won. He then drove home afterwards and never believed anything could possibly happen to him. He's dead now. He was an idiot. |
Re: in todays telegraph.......
It's terrible but, as others have said, at least no innocent bystanders were injured and for that I am deeply thankful.
My condolences to the family of the chap who died. I do hope that parents bring this article to the attention of their children so that it may help to stop the appaling driving practices that we see on many roads these days, not all from youngsters I accept, but a large proportion. |
Re: in todays telegraph.......
I think that part of the driving test should be a compulsory 1hr film of speed crashes and how it effects other peoples lives and some of the injuries that they may end up with, even if it makes one kid think twice it would be worth it.
