Re: Chivalry???
Unfortunately Staggers it is these days & no wonder we have problems with the youth of today [tehehe makes me sound really old lol :D ] though have to say its not lost on me i was brought up with those values & trying to instill them in my youngsters :D
I hate the amercian chatshow participant attitude thats been imported over here the 'whatever - am i bovered talk to the hand & bucking chicken annoying gesture attitude :( that effects the Kevin & Perrys of today. Gawd just realised ive aged considerably  |
Re: Chivalry???
i think as we get older we do get wiser, but a lot of kids these days would rather leave there feet on a seat than let people sit down
stop worrying about age accymel,it makes you age quicker :D |

Re: Chivalry???
Pmsl Staggers thats true:p :D
Though it seems the me-me-I attitude is more privailent these days although some youngsters would get up & dont have feet on seats but respect for elders & authority seems to be on the decline, some of the things ive been called from youngsters is appalling:eek: |

Re: Chivalry???
Its the commercial american tv attitude that even our commercial comedy tv embraces with the readily available choice on sat/cable is what im getting at - not Americans in general. Children copy what they see & seemingly popular parrot talk within our school children.

Re: Chivalry???
The only valid measure for good manners is if people get out of the swimming pool to have a pee.
But then you'll never know! |
Re: Chivalry???
have you never been in a pool where the have added a dye to the water, and it turns colour when someone pees in it.....lol :D

Re: Chivalry???
Chivalry exists here.. Unfortunatly I get accused of being old fashioned or sexist whenever I display or put it into practice (but not by my wife)
Women go first through a door. hold doors open.. women walk on the inside of the street and many more that I see as good manners.. I still find it embarresing if a woman gets her purse out when in a pub or simmilar and tries to pay for a drink.... very embarresing actually.. lots more things and I guess some are old fashioned traits but there all born out of good manners and chivalry I believe. |
Re: Chivalry???
I think we women have to take some of the blame for the lack of chivalry in the world. It can be very hard for men to know what we want when we change the goal posts every week. For instance, I love it when doors are opened for me but I like to pay my own way in a pub whereas other women like men to pay for them all the time. That's just the tip of the iceberg so it's no surprise that some men have held their hands up and given up.
