Diana's uncle had to publicly state her pureness prior to her wedding in 1981.

Ironic then because it was probably Charles that stopped her from being a virgin in the first place.

Also Camilla's family the Kepples were not really thought of as being of good stock. They weren't aristocratic, her great grandmother had been a Royal mistress to Edward VIII, and her great aunt was the lesbian Violet Trefussis who caused a scandal when she left her husband and ran off with Vita Sackville West.

Just shows how misguided people get when they stick to protocol or formalities. In the end Diana's family had its fair share of divorces and scandals so she might have been 'aristocracy' but the family was just as prone to trouble as any other.

I'm not really interested in the royals either way but I do think it's a shame that he wasn't allowed to marry the love of his life when he was younger. Having said that, the affair that carried on behind Diana's back was pretty dispicable.

Exactly, but that's what he had to do. She was only nineteen, and would have had lots of palace insiders making enquiries into her past.

Camilla's friends have publicly said she was quite a fast cat even at finishing school in Switzerland, years before even meeting Charles.

Don't forget that whilst she was seeing Charles, when he was away at sea whilst in the navy, he received a letter telling him she was marrying Andrew Parker Bowles.

The figure released for how much she spends per year on hairdressing is £55,000.

While they have a right to happiness....I do not want to hear about either of them......he is weaker than water( if he had stood up to his Ma, they would have married in the first place) and she is no better than she ought to be.....as Mrs boswell used to say TART!

Well, I have to put my two penn'th in here. Charles was not the only one having an affair; the much vaunted Princess of Hearts had her share as well. We are aware of at least three I think, we don't know if there were any others, so I suppose if you wish to tar Camilla as a tart you have to do the same for Di. As far as we know, Charlie Boy only had one affair. I'm not condoning that, just trying to keep things in perspective.

Yes he should have stood up to protocol and the family and married who the hell he wanted, but we are unaware what kind of pressures can be brought to bear within Royal circles. Personally, I wish them all the best and hope that their marriage makes them both happy for the rest of their lives. I'm not sure Charles is ever going to be King anyway, his mother could well outlive him the way she is going. He may be well advised to just pass it up and let his eldest son, who seems to be very popular, take the crown if he does survive his mother's death.

This is the sort of question best suited to an Italian parliment. There were bits and bobs bouncing out from the start and the blame has to lie not with just Chick Di Cammi Owd Liz Owd Greek etc but with the royal botty cleaners as well. These numpties are so bent on living in the past they have lost all sense of reality concerning the Royals. Yes they are moderising but what is to say the same problem is not to befall wee Wullie?

Now they are married C n C should just get on with their lives and wonder what could have been. They still have plenty of time ahead of them to enjoy themselves along with the "bonuses" that could have been lost if Chicks heart had been brave enough to take on "the Firm" and wed her the first time round.

Yeh, Mez, but the children are boys, god forbid if there had been a daughter, methinks she would have seen it differently.

Tealeaf: Feel confident Diane would have loved him to the end of her days minus this woman in his life, and any affairs she had came out of 'what's good for the goose, good for the gander' .. and feelings of neglect, etc. Annoexia and bulimia is born out of low self-esteem and this is what she was feeling.

Seems might be in the minority here, but, hey, am a woman and we thrive on intuition.
